Q:

Talon SS from mdimdi going .25 caliber :)

Someone missed out on a great buy from mdimdi and I snagged it. Rifle is about a year old and looks brand new. It’s scheduled for a Pulaski Extreme make over 😀

I installed the Centerpoint 3×12 Compact scope on a one piece high mount to see what that would look like … it’s a GREAT scope for the money .. bright clear optics thru that 30mm tube and I really like the sidewheel !

Coming up next is a full trigger job with set screws and polished trigger components.

A one piece black/gray laminated stock with a tactical rail mounted in the forearm and attachments 😀

Then comes a 90 gram hammer on a polished Metal Head 16 inch .25 caliber barrel.

Condor high flow bottle with polished valve that is super consistent on the chronograph.

And to quiet it all down an 8 inch Metal Head Mod 🙂

It’s also getting the WOK butt and sling swivel studs so I can shoulder this squirrel blaster.

I am hoping the combo will give me at least 65 FPE with Kodiaks and I also have some of the new 25 grain JSB Kings on hand in case it has a preference for those.

Here she is for the moment … and never to look the same again .. it’s going to be a fun build 😀

Yes only 3 FPE difference between the two at the moment … the new gun needs more hammer than it has (90 grams) … looking to put a 100 grammer in it.

I took a squirrel this evening at a little over 60 yards with this new rifle … the gun went pfft … and then there was a loud wallop when the Kodiak connected with Mr. Gray. This thing is a Cannon 😀

How about a S/S comparison with this rifle and your “shorty”-bbl. Your shorty almost made 60FPE and this one is doing 62FPE. Nice numbers for sure!

Shiny things installed 😀

I tore the rifle down and drilled the frame for venting and the 2 set screws for the trigger job. I carefully polished all of the trigger components and took a power washer to the frame to insure that all of the metal chips from the drilling process were gone.

Installed the 16″ .25 caliber barrel with a new hammer spring and 90 gram hammer. Breech got new Duro 90 o-rings with a small amount of divers grease on them and everything else got a good coating of dry lube.

New style Condor bottle is thumping out Kodiak Match Pellets at 963 fps with a 10 shot average of 953 fps for 62 FPE.

I zeroed the rifle in a little while ago and even though the wind is giving it hell out there with 25-30 MPH gusts .. this .25 Caliber Cannon printed some real nice groups at 40 yards.

The super sweet trigger pull contributed to these groups … target on the left side of the pic was the first group I shot .. once I realized that this rifle would shoot in the wind I knuckled down and printed the second group which measures just a pinch over 3/8ths of an inch 😀

I was using Kodiak Match Pellets with the rifle set on full power … the pellets were straight out of the tin … will see what it does with Kodiaks lubed with Krytech.

Maybe it was the high winds .. but I tried the new JSB Kings in my rifle and they were all over the paper. Glad I only bought one tin of those !

Once this blasted wind event goes away I’ll get some longer range groups to report. I am just in the final tweaking phase with this rifle and it is sure exciting me so far … I can’t wait to see what she can really do !

Shinnies!!! 😀

Yep yep me likes shiney stuff too 😀

Eric I am toying with the idea of doing a lot of painting on these things so I would need a blasting cabinet. I’m thinking of experimenting with camo patterns and such … you know me I have more time than sense 😀
