Q:

Talon SS Shroud

I’m well aware that it’s illegal to use silencers…You don’t need to inform me on this subject.

Anyways,
I know there is a lot of talk about quieting airguns down, and I know there are many methods, but what is the single best method? The quietest and easiest. After internally modified, should I put some kind of barrel extender/silencer to help EVEN MORE?

As long as it isn’t any louder than my pump at 8 pumps, I can shoot it comfortably. With baffles I’m guessing it will be quieter.

Julien,

What do you want more? Power or quiet? CO2 is very quiet. HPA TalonSS with baffle is quiet enough to shoot in the back yard.

So is there any guarantee this gun will be made quiet without spending an extra $100 freakin’ dollars? I NEED this gun quiet. http://talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=134 I’d do something like this, but I don’t want to spend $550 and not have an idea of whats going on.
1. No confidence
2. No idea what to do.

EDIT : Okay, I’m a nervous wreck. I read through it a little more. How specific must I be with the spring? Again, I’m scared – I want to make sure everything is done correctly. Can I just grind the spring ends with a grinding machine? Can I just go and ask for those specific products and get them, or will I be bombarded with 1000 different options?

Is there any way it can be made as the AA S400s in either of these videos?

I tried to “home fixes” that are posted here on this site………I couldn’t tell one bit of difference!!!!! It doesn’t work…….period.

I also have a Talon SS……….they are soooooooooooooo NOT quiet at all 😯

The SS is loud… no once except AF said it was quiet… BUT, Relativly speaking its quiet. Shoot a Condor or an 18″ Talon or like Jim says, dry fire it with the end cap in a room, then remove end cap and try again. Once your ears stop ringing post your findings here.

If you need help with baffling the gun, please post some pics and we’ll be able to see what the problem with your set up is.

You might just be hearing the hammer noise, people a few feet away dont hear that, but they will notice the muzzle noise has been substantially reduced after baffling… that wont go away without some kind of hammer slap mod. You’ll still hear it with an after market shroud.

Take the end cap off and see what a SS with an 18″ barrel will sound like. 😯

Your Talon will be ‘quiet’ after you see what it is normally…!

Unless you divide up the air spaces where the discharge dissipates, it will be no more quiet than the stock end cap setup, just a differently shaped sound. With a frame extension using two chambers (basically keeping the stock endcap where it is and adding another chamber in front of the original), the Talon can be more quiet than a Daisy 880 (the plastic fantastic) with 8 pumps.

Or to put it another way, when shooting indoors your ears won’t ring anymore…

The shroud from Tony should do the trick! 😉

edited out photo, still not sure about the whole ‘silencer’ thing… i don’t want to show half of an idea, when in reality the actual finished object is to be radically different by way of needing further objects/parts and machining to possibly in any way be attached to a firearm, in addition to having no sound absorbing materials inside the finished extension. The ‘cap’ doesn’t attach to any part of the existing frame or the extension and when removed from the end of the Talon’s frame will not attach in any way to the extension…

I have the same question.

I am going to order a shroud from Tony of Talon Tunes…….I hope it works 😀
