Q:

Talon SS vs Condor SS accuracy out to 50yrds?

I’ve been lurking on and off here for a couple years now. Thanks for all the great info. Have a few adult springers for the last 10-15yrs. I started shopping for my first PCP last year it ended up being between the Disco and a Talon SS. I got Mac1 tuned Disco mainly because I already had means to fill it, a big nitrogen tank(2200psi) and a carbon SCBA tank rated for 2000psi( which is hydroed to 2700 and filled to 2400ish) . They’ve worked great. And I’ve learned about PCPs. Sense then I scored a 4500spi SCBA and a smaller high pressure one also. I want a small light weight accurate gun for hunting , plinking and some paper in the yard. A step up from the Disco. So I’m beginning my research. I really like the Talon SS, it’s drawing me in again but now there’s also the Condor SS to consider. My question is would a Condor SS be noticeably more accurate than the Talon SS at say 50ish yards? I know their more powerful but are they also more accurate? It’s prolly going to be another .22 cal.
Thanks

Hey and how long its the TTTopHat, i see its only a solid 1 piece and the restrictors wich diameter its the smalles one ??
AND 900 FPS ITS LOT OF POWER on that pellet, mines maybe are in 700 fps exact king (i dont have chonny 🙁 )

I have a condor in .25 with a heavier hammer, heavy hammer spring and TT adjustable valve stem and it shoots the 43.2gn eunjins at over 1000fps at pw 13.After I put in the small restrictor in the top hat it shoots around 820fps with pw 0.

I have both, and so far I have shot a little tighter groups with my Talon then my Condor. I have the Talon sighted in for 46 yards.

You Right, the Talon its a super small powerfull and acurate airgun 😀

But, im honest, i put it out the hammer weight that has the condor, and i make a “one brass piece Top hat” whit a smaller exit hole
And then te original top hat

And if you dont want to make a one piece top hat, you can adjust it like this,

And Finally, shot whit the power weel on 0 i dont have chonny, but at 55 yard (50 metros) very smalls grups, maybe on power 2 or 4,you can get tighter groups whit lot of shoot couns, alsooo hahahah (ok it’s the end :D) fill you gun with 2100 psi and stop at 1450
Bless 😀

Thanks Casey. Seems like going with the CondorSS you can tune down the power to perform near a TalonSS easier than vise verso. At the expense of a pound and 5″ added lenght. My disco is 44″ so the CondorSS would still be about 6″ shorter. Decisions decisions

Condor .25 SS and tune down and buy some .25 exact kings JSB, and you ready to go

Ok, maybe this will help a little. I have two Talon SS’s, one runs either a TT tuned talon valved bottle, or my DIY modded talon valve, it generally wears an 18″ 22 caliber barrel. The other one has an R&L modified Condor valve and generally wears a 25 caliber barrel, but I have had the 22 barrel in it too. At 50 yards they both shoot great shot on top of shot groups, either gun. Even if I swap the barrels, and use the 25 cal with the Talon valved bottle. However, when the distance gets out to 70+ yards that’s where I start to see the Condor valved bottle start to show it’s nuts. My guess is I can turn it up hot, and push the JSB’s right at the 980-990 mark. If I keep both set around the 900 FPS mark I don’t really know if I can tell much of a difference especially in 22 cal. When you get the itch and move up to 25 the Condor valve does make a huge difference. I could push 25.4 JSB’s in 25 from an 18 inch barrel at around 900 FPS with my modded Talon valve. By just switching to the Condor valved bottle, I had to turn the gun down unless I was shooting 40 grain pellets to keep them from going supersonic. Hope I didn’t add more confusion to your decision, but if I were to start again, I would just buy either the Condor or Condor SS from the get go. My 25 gun with the Condor valve also wears a Talon Tunes 6 inch shroud and is very quiet, the other one has a “frame extension” with some internals to keep it very quiet as well. A stock Talon SS is still louder than my 25 M-Rod, but not by much, the sound lock kits work well, and I use after market K style baffles that look just like the Air Force ones in my SS when the extension is off, and in that config it’s very close to the M-Rod as far as noise level.

Casey

I shoot it both ways, open sights and scoped with TKO LDC. But for hunting I rally like stealth quiet. Just done some shooting with my son and broke out the old R-7 we hadn’t shot in a couple years. That’s a fine little springer there. What are some common group sizes with the Talonss or CondorSS?

But he could always pull the hammer weight and put the small insert in with a 12″ barrel and have a talon SS right there

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4

a 12″ condor means power level of a condor if you put a 12” barrel on a condor,

but the talon ss would be shorter than the condor SS , but keep in mind you still need the shroud , most do anyway, and it adds to the length.

are you shooting the disco in the yard without a shroud,

Thanks. Glad to know that, I know not to swing by their for nothing.

Hell, i live in fort worth and havent found there shop..

like john said, they have no store front or public access last i checked.

i called them to see about buying straight from them and she said i would be better off buying from out of state etc, i would be on a backlog with them , and i would not have to pay taxes buying out of state.

if you really only want to shoot at talon power level, get the talon ss,
it can be upgraded later if you choose. A condor bottle and extra hammer weight, and you have a 12” condor

then extra barrels, parts, accessories etc, etc, etc, etc,

why not go the rout i went buy a condor in .25 and another 12″ barrel in .22 or .25 then you get both guns for a great deal when you want to take larger game put the 24″ .25 barrel on the gun for backyard fun 12″ barrel sound-loc kit and small insert in TT adjustable tophat for real quite backyard fun put a TT shroud in front of the sound-loc kit and install a TT hammer with hammer slap mod and your mouse fart quite but thats just :2cents:

I’m remembering that they are manufactured in Ft. Worth, Tx. Give them a call. You may get a chance to see them all up real close.

Nope. Tried that. I’m an hour’s drive from the plant. Tried to talk my my way into a tour and got nowhere. Nice lady. But no.
