Q:

TD400 Archery conversion

The Condors are some awesome guns and I belive the Archery conversion option will give us one more way to enjoy this weapon and be able to humanely kill any big game animal you could think of.
I have tried to make a Archery conversion kit for the condor that is powerful, accurate, easy to install and affordable. I’ll post some pics, features and shot strings.

Basic kit

full conversion kit with arrow loaded on barrel (notice reccess in barrel allowing further insertion of arrow)

view of barrel recess

distance between rear of archery barrel and fully extended top hat.

Internal parts in full conversion kit.

#3 hole in breech for 400+fps arrow speeds.

g.t.blue jay helped me with some of the testing on the kits. He didnt install the moded valve spring and retainer so I was’nt exspecting him to break 400fps but he did! This a 15 shot string he recorded for me.

The arrow track barrel is a very accurate and versatile design. Swivel machine works had a patents on it for 20 years but both patents expired last year. The arrow track allows you to shoot fletching and any kind of broadhead you like.
A 280grain arrow moveing 400+ has a lot of punch even without a broadhead 😀

Legality differs from state to state, country to country and animal to animal. You need to check. Here is my state’s rules – Georgia. http://www.georgiawildlife.com/hunting/regulations

Many states consider these as crossbows but you may need to put in a call to check.

Thanks.

I really like tagdagger’s the conversion design. Is that legel to use it for the big game hunting?

I would love to have one, if it was safe. I guess I need to keep waiting for an FX Arrow kit for the Bobcat 30 cal.

and he is NOT Banned! 😆
He is here, alive and well! TadDagger here on the forum.
KnifeMaker

I believe the creator stopped making them because of safety concerns with AF.

Are Condor arrow conversion still alive? or is banned?

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Money! 😆

No worries Steve 😀

Though it would be nice to have the money to play at Yuppie for a bit !!

Mmmmmmm, money……. 😆

No Pab, I’m not calling you a yuppie. But remember that I am here in L.A.. Home of the yuppie. Shotguns do indeed get dressed up with every imaginable goodie known to man. Tac light, laser, side saddle ammo holder, the little sling on the foregrip to keep your hand from slipping off, Davis Speed Feed stock, sling…tactical of course, red dot sights. Everything that a person puts on any gun in hopes of creating a weapon that will make up for his short commings as a shooter. Some of the these things I refer to as training wheels. You see these people at the range with their super gun, but they can’t shoot and are often dangerous to be around.

Let’s contrast this with our recent TAG member, Dollarhunt. The man goes around the world to hunt BIG game and uses whatever heavy rifle the guide has available. He baggs his critters with weapons that he has little or no experience with. What he does have is shooting skills and confidence in them.

No Pab, I would have to see you in action fulfilling the yuppie creed before I would call you one. Cheers mate! 😀

Are you intimating that I am a Yuppie???!!! 😯 😆 😆

I don’t think ‘Yuppies’ ever get out of the city long enough to shoot, though a few well healed farmers I know would refer to them by brand name…
Shootie is a term used by guys that shoot them day in day out, use them purely as a tool for what they were designed for. They are neither horded in a gun safe, nor poured over and fettled with the lastest lazer/ red dot/ super duper tactical stock with built in I-phone. 🙄

It just seems like the yuppies have discovered the shotgun and gave it a Bozo name. Still, “…a rose by any other name is still a rose…”

quote SteveinLA:

Where did the term “shottie” come from? It just sounds so lame.

It is fascinating how a great single shot air rifle has been redesigned to become such a great arrow launcher. That is just too cool! 😎

In the UK we pretty much shorten every word because we are lazy!!

Ok I’ll refer to it as a ‘self contained lead mass projector’…… 😛

How much?

Roach, I understand the power it has for a good take down in home defense, but what if you miss, will the bad guy give you 20 secs to reload? Surely a good large calibre pistol or short barrel shottie with a light load is better? Bearing in mind I’m not even allowed to protect myself or my family in this cuntry so I may be missing something???
