Ted’s Big Bullpup Review
Ted is soon to lay down the big bullpup comparison review.. we all have our opinions and bias but should be a good read/watch for sure..
I dont envy the work you have ahead of you Ted… I know how long this takes and how horrible it is to have to shoot airguns all day long.. 
I must ask the question though… Why the two .22 and .25 Bobcats but not the .22cal R3 “AND THE” .25cal R3M?

After handling, tuning, stripping and shooting all these guns myself I would personally have to lay them out in this order of favourites:
Matador
P12
Cricket
Bobcat
Max
Its a pity you couldn’t lay your hands on the Vulcan to slip in the mix.. as I think it will be a tough competitor for sure..

Wing ,that matador on the right in front of the red car is probably one of the best looking ED’s I have ever seen. Wish he would make them like that , that screams tough! I would much rather have one like that instead of the r3 I have now!!!!!!!!!!! 😥

What I actually said was …”I would give my left nut to own one of Eds EARLY model Morana’s”.. the early steel breach, exposed forward barrel clamps, the lack of a manometer etc.. it all makes me want it more than the refined production model even though I know the new one will be better in so many ways… as an engineer myself I can just appreciate the prototype stages that eventually lead up to the final production product and to me those items hold more value and spirit.

I think this stock as well as the one model you made after that one screams out “Im an EDgun!!!” much louder than the new Morana stock in my opinion..
The lines are just beautiful like the Russian legend of Morana herself..
For those that dont know the meaning of theses names they come from Slavic goddess from a very old religion:
Lelya – goddess of spring and love
Morana – goddess of winter and death
People in the market for this stile of gun would be considering the Cricket carbine V/S the Morana for sure.. with the older stock the Morana would be miles ahead in beauty and performance in my opinion.

I am looking at the first prototype of “Morana” and I think you are right, Phil, it looks good, maybe I should make the additional stock for the present Morana like the old one 🙂
Anyone here want to make a bet about this bullpup review.
I’ll bet an FX wins and comes in second.
Thing is, even if it is a better rifle there is the appearance of impropriety simply because AoA and FX pay for advertising on his site.
Or maybe i’m just saying this to shame Ted into making one of the other rifles come in first or second!

Having only a Cricket and EdGun i’d go to my EdGun first.
But i’m hoping one of these day I get to shoot a Bobcat from a bench and see what it can do. :4:
Actually (even though that Ed stock is pretty much the original), there was a guy at a FT match that had made a bullpup conversion and the FX owner was looking at it and said he hated bullpups and would never make one.
He then went on to steal the stock design (even had the magazine storage in the exact same place) from the guy he said this to…
The story was on the Yellow and promptly removed likely because FX pays for advertising. :whistle:
Last FT match I was at two guys shot those ‘things’, they also drove a Prius to the match… 😐
Wingman; I did know that Ed come up with the prototype Beluga!
He quickly dropped that design as it was fugly, awkward, heavy and it didn’t shoot very well.
Ed learned from his mistakes and he then came up with the Matador.
It might take FX a couple more years to also learn how to make a bullpup.
well i gotta admint, that thing looks wicked. though i must say it looks like he stole that knob right off a baby safetey gate lol

I bet many of you didnt know Ed was the true inventor of the FX Balluga…
It rates well, Id say it is the “fastest” of all three to strip and access all serviceable parts but lets not forget the reg isnt there from factory.
I still rate the Edgun R3 over the P12 for over all ease of strip/service and have the added benefit of not requiring a re-zero session as long as you leave the barrel tension nut alone when you strip it and put it all back together.. The P12 and Cricket both wander from zero once the barrel securing screws are loosened. The P12 has the added discrepancy of the barrel index location to be rotated 360 deg and locked up in a different position each time you strip it if precaution isn’t taken.
Personally I find the Cricket a pain in the ass to work on in comparison to the other two. So many small and tacky moving parts to loose or break.
Again this is where my personal opinion and bias comes in just as Ted will have his own, I really dont like side leaver PCPs and that mag system on the Cricket just drives me nuts. Im a fan of single shot, bolt action, tough, simple to work on, light and short (like all bullpups should be) and over all good fitting/looking (normally walnut) stocks so the R3 and P12 tick those boxes for me.
In my opinion the P12 feels more petite than the Edgun and the Cricket and just sits nicer in the hand. Im not a big fan of the R3 pistol grip as there is that “cosmetic” finger groove under the trigger guard there that IMO would not fit any ones hand well. However Ed nailed it with the Veles pistol grip, that thing is a work of art!
The Cricket WST or “skeleton stock was a gem and the longer .25 WST was even better and should have been fitted to all of the Crickets not just the .25cal… The Crickets Bulldog stock in my opinion is too fat and heavy.. there is just way too much meat on the fore grip area.
There are things on all of these models I like and dont like and none are IMO “perfect” to me. Over all the Edgun R3 comes closest to my needs in the market of currently available Bullpups and comes with a spirit and enigma rivalled by none of the others..
I own one of Eds earlier R3s and it wreaks of the simplicity, soul and personality Ed engrained in it as he designed assembled it. For me it is like owing a part of history never to be repeated and it is lacking in all the other brands of mass produced pups available today.
For me owning any of the early models and imperfect quirky prototypes is exciting and fore filling, I wouldnt trade my early model guns for any new improved mass produced production model ever.
I would give my left nut to own one of Eds early model Morana’s like this one below.. However the new one just doesn’t excite me.. Im strange like that but we are all different.. Dont be a sheep.. buy what YOU like.. not just what everyone else is buying..
