Ted’s Big Bullpup Review
Ted is soon to lay down the big bullpup comparison review.. we all have our opinions and bias but should be a good read/watch for sure..
I dont envy the work you have ahead of you Ted… I know how long this takes and how horrible it is to have to shoot airguns all day long..
I must ask the question though… Why the two .22 and .25 Bobcats but not the .22cal R3 “AND THE” .25cal R3M?
http://tedsholdover.com/2014/06/12/bullpup-mania/
After handling, tuning, stripping and shooting all these guns myself I would personally have to lay them out in this order of favourites:
Matador
P12
Cricket
Bobcat
Max
Its a pity you couldn’t lay your hands on the Vulcan to slip in the mix.. as I think it will be a tough competitor for sure..

Teds a big boy fella’s and pretty sure he knows how to put the odd review together….
Im sure he has a format planed and regardless of how he decides to review the pups (competitively put them against each other or just list the positive and negative traits of each) it will be as informative and entertaining as the rest of his vid’s and serve as a tool for new pup buyers to make informed decisions in regards to purchasing what is right for THEM..
Like I said each and every one of us will have our own opinions and bias, this will be Ted’s… Im sure it will be more facts and figures than personal opinion anyway. I for one am very much looking forward to this one. Thanks for taking the time Ted.

The edgun ted is using is an older version and maybe a little more simpler than the current R3’s
Teds got a r3 and a 2.5
i believe the r3 is 25 cal and you dont get to see it much.
I Haven’t broken down an edgun… but from seeing the pics on here… The P12 has got the covered. by far the easiest bull pup to work on and breakdown.

accuracy
shot count and SD/ES
overall feel and ease of use
and finally fit and finish.
but not in any particular order.
I agree with Reaper and would say that this is a good start.
Personally, I would like to see results of how easy each one is to strip and maintain as most of us on here do like to ‘tinker’ with our pride and joys 😀
Maybe we could use the ‘Fuxing’ index as a measure…..

forgot about breakdown. i think by far the edgun and p12 would be neck and neck with teardown as the bobcat has a lot of stuff on it that would get in the way of a quick strip so to speak. so chaulk another one up to the board for categorys. hopefully ted sees this since i know hes floating around here somewhere

which is why it needs to be split into groups for each category.
also which feels best when shouldered cause i think the bobcat has that one in the bag cause its not necessrily a bullpup
All of my BPs shoot 1/2″ or less at 50 yards so accuracy falls out of the equation after tuning for me when picking which is my favorite. Not that it isn’t important – just that there is little differentiation among the different guns for the ranges I tend to shoot at making it a non-issue. For me size, weight, fit and finish, power/caliber, and ergonomics are much more of a factor in the group. I really don’t care if one shoots a 1/4″ group at 50 yards and another a 3/8″ group. I only care if they get outside of my acceptable boundary but, of course, I am primarily pesting and shoot a lot. 😀 If I was paper punching that would make a difference. As I said it just depends on what is important to the particular shooter.
I’m willing to bet that the FX Beluga comes in at first place. Forget the fact that they are heavy, long and, even after adding the extra air tube extension, they don’t get the regulated shot count that a Matador gives. The fact that Ted gets them for free or for next to nothing shouldn’t have anything to do with the results.
Has anybody besides me noticed that the guns that Ted is reviewing includes his 4 year old 22 cal Matador R2.5? Ed has made some major accuracy improvements when he went to the R3. Why isn’t Ted including a R3 Matador in the test? I know that he got at least one from Tony and Ed.
SeCoda: I have to disagree with you. Accuracy and repeatability is everything! All of my Matadors can routinely give 1/2″ 5 shot groups at 50 yards and usually average around .375-.400 inch. Windy days open the groups up some.
i think it needs to be broken down into a certain set of categorys for the rifles.

as you said, bobcat will almost certainly come out on top since ted’s had it the longest and had the most trigger time with it, but that shouldnt have any impact on overall, nor should there be any kind of biasing regardless of if you get free stuff from AoA all the time. or buy it, (we already know most his shit is super discounted) but even then it shouldnt weigh in on the final product of the end result in any way.
however this bulpup showdown is sure to turn a lot of heads and open peoples eyes, as ted stated “it looks like china is starting to amp up their game” and i truely beleive that with current remarks owners have made that own both crickets and edguns that have handled the p12 that say it feels better in the hand including you wingman that says a lot about the fit and finish section of what should be an epic review/battle.
its pretty sad when you can have a sub 1k gun and a cricket and have the sub 1k be your go to just because you feel more comfortable with it.
Lets see – I bet Ted puts the Bobcat at top and I don’t even consider them a true bullpup. 😯 Like Wingy said these are personal favorite reviews. The list order really depends on what is important to you. If you put a little different weight on the criteria – the order will change. Take this stuff with a big grain of salt. Don’t buy in on “accuracy” is everything because it isn’t. Once an acceptable accuracy is achieved for all of these guns (say 1/2″ at 50 yards which maybe all but the Max have) it may fall out of consideration completely unless you are in competition.
not sure if offended or jealous yourself.
from what i hear the cricket doesnt feel as nice in the hand as the p12 does for a cheap bullpup which is surprising to hear.
Dman your just Jealous , It must hurt bad,
For me
P12
Cricket
Bobcat
now the max and the matador would have to be on the guns not shot or owned list… couldn’t put them in the list
I wasnt comparing just accuracy.. this was an over all which Id buy first list.
but… my P12 does shoot as well if not better than the other two russians at 50 meters

im looking foreward to the review as well.
the fact he said there would be a lot of bias is kinda lame though.
gotta attack the situation as a whole and break it all down without a bias because you have had one or a few longer then others.
just my 2 cents.
i know teds a bigboy and has his tighty whiteys on straight and all, the fact he mentions bias though concearns me and a lot of others. should be a good show either way.
youve already put your 2 cents in there wingman about the fit and finish, how do you think the p12 rates against ease of maintenance over the edgun and cricket since you got them all. sorry fit and finish coupled with ease of maintenance disassembly and repair.
