Q:

Tedd is nomiated to the next AOA EBR comp.

Hi Guys,

I am a man with not many words. Usually I like to read your posts and learn from you guys. Recently I read a post by Oldgoat that he is doing he is experimenting on his brand new .30 Matador. This is not something new. He may have already tried to replaced his .25 barrel with a .257 Hart barrel to shoot cast bullets. I think with the .30 Matador, it is very promising.

Knowing Tedd from this forum, he is one CRAZY DUDE. There isnt a thing about the Matador that he does not know. He would go out of his way to help a brother out. How many times have you seem him send out O rings, tools he made, and advice for a brother that needs it?. The best part is he never ask for anything in return. Tedd does not know I am doing this. I wanted to give back to the guy that gave so much to the sport of air gunning.

Hey Tedd, I do not know if AOA EBR allows cast bullets in their competition, but if they do, then its what you wanted. If they do not allow Cast bullets, then you can still tune your .30 Matador to shoot JSB.

Here is the best part, I like to nominate TEDD to the next AOA Exteme Bench Rest Competition. I want to start a “Tedd Foundation Fund” of 400.00 dollars to help his expense.
If anyone would like to contribute to this fund, you can PM me. It does not have to be much, $5, $10, $20 or which ever you are comfortable is appreciated.

Tedd will not get this fund until he attend the competition and win the first prize. Just kidding about the first prize : so let the FUND begin, lets sign up.

Nice shooting John!

HOOT, I have both 46 and 50 grain JSBs. Ed has said that the 46 grain pellets shoot better in the Matador than the 50 grain pellets do. I will try them both out.

Thanks George for your kindness.

Now we are up to 550.00 plus a few more with undisclosed amount. I am sure Tedd will work hard this summer to not let us down. We believed and support you Tedd.

I think the .30 matador is helluva gun to shot JSB. This morning I hat it zeroed in T 40 yards and this is my first and only 5 shots group. The first shot hits my bullseye, but could not see through, the next 4 shoots just cleans what is inside of that pumpkin.

Tedd, what pellets will you be prapracticing with for the field trialstrials…brand and gr.???

Count me in too !
Tedd has been more than helpful in several occasions.
I believe that’s the least we can do for him.

Regards
George

HOOT, the 30 cal air valve/regulator assembly has some changes along with the transfer port sizes in the breech block between the 25 and 30 cal.

I currently think that the 25 cal can be modified to the 30 cal specifications. The only part that would need to be ordered would be the extra spacer that the 30 cal uses between the output side of the regulator and the air valve housing. The spacer gives a larger regulated pressure plenum area to feed the higher flow needed for the 30 cal pellet. It is just a spacer, threaded on both ends that screws into the standard housing, I think.

Pics to follow in my just got my 30 cal R3 long off of the UPS truck topic.

Be it a .257, or my idea of a cast slug only .25 Magnum, I wish you well and you have my support.

I personally believe the larger calibers, for the most part, are unnecessary. A long, heavy, cast slug, at the proper fps, is very stable in flight, has a much flatter trajectory to target, and offers the best of both worlds in that grey area between ultra-high powered air guns and powder burners.

If your efforts bear fruit, I would like to put a .30 caliber valve in my .25 Long, and examine whether the trnsfer port and regulator need to be modified as well.

Interesting times!

Many things look easy while being difficult. PM me your adress and i’ll send you a couple of new wind flags that work well, are weather resistant and can be used over and over and easy to make so you can duplicate them.

Sent from a Tab my wife lured me to buy … If your Aunt has a pair of hairy balls does that make “her” your Uncle ?

OG I’m excited to see what you can do!

JohnP and all of you other guys: at lunch tonight, I used my Iphone to check up on the TAG. I saw JohnP’s topic and I was blown away by it! All night long, I have tried to come up with a snappy or bull shit answer to his topic.

I couldn’t!

I just am really humbled that you guys would offer to do this for me!

It is not about the money; I don’t need it.

It is about the fact that the Edgun section on the TAG is a brotherhood of Edgun owners that are willing to reach out to help each other!

I call Hemn brother Hemn because he is my Edgun brother: the rest of you guys are Edgun brothers also!

Again: I am just so humbled!

I am going to order some official Extreme Bench Rest targets from AOA. They cost $40 for 5. I hope that I can get them copied locally for a lot less than that. I am going to buy a wind meter and make some wind flags. The AOA shoot was something that I wanted to do: now I have to get serious about it!

AOA has already said that air guns shooting cast bullets will be allowed in 2014.

I got the 30 long, and shot it just enough to see what speeds it shot. It was shooting 948 fps. I was happy with that, it meant that I needed to pull the reg and adjust it down to 885 fps. It also meant that I could compare the 30 cal internals to the 25 cal internals.

Ed has made some changes and Sunday I will take pics and measurements and post them on my topic. I emailed Tony for another 25 cal R3 breech block assembly so I can modify it to match the changes that Ed has made on the 30 cal. I also asked to buy a complete 30 cal air valve/regulator assembly so I don’t have to modify one of my 25 cals.

I think that the 25 cal breech blocks will bolt up on the 30 cal but; the 30 cal transfer port is larger than the 25. I don’t want to hog out one of my R3 25 cal breech blocks I want another one to play with.

If things work out, I will take my 30 cal R3 long and a .257” Hart or TJs barreled R3 ex 25 long shooting my cast bullets to the AOA shoot.

Starting in April, my current plans are to spend at least 10 hours at the range shooting the 75 yard AOA targets each week.

I have a print out of one of the AOA 75 yard bulls eyes.

It looks so easy!

quote Hoot:

I’m in too!

Will there be enough to get his glass eye reground, and polished??? He couldn’t afford a new one when he had it put in, and had to buy used. Right now he has one brown eye, and one green, and they are not the same size. No need to frighten the children at this event!

PM to follow.

Medical technology had improved a bit since his glass eye operation. The doctors were able to transplant 1 eye from a stud goat. Thats is why every time he sees at a goat, he gets excited.

I just hope during the EBR competition, they will not let any goat to graze around there.

John.

BR is all about practice and wind reading. You can have a rifle that punches out the bull every time, add some wind and you won;t hit shit unless you’ve sent thousands of shots downrange in all kinds of conditions.

I’d be interested in adding to the fund if this is something Tedd is willing to put the time into in terms of practice. πŸ˜€

Would certainly be great to see an Edgun beat the FX on their ‘home’ turf. πŸ˜†

PS, don’t count on seeing cast bullets allowed anytime soon. I think I would be safe in saying, NEVER, ever, ever. πŸ˜‰

How about it Tedd?

You put in the time, we will send you some JSB pellets?

I can see Tedd is already starting to clear some 6 inches of snow off of his shooting bench, started to shoot in a howling Illinois wind, just in case it snows in Arizona next year!!!

Latest count, that is 530.00 plus 3 members with undisclosed amount.

COOL!!!

I got more members here to joint in the “FUND”. I sure did not want to be the only one to play, it would not have been fun. πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Now we are up to 510.00 and 1 member with undisclosed amount.

Thank you very much for your support,
