Q:

Tested Benjamin Rogue

Is there any place to by a Benjamin Rogue that is pre tested and ready to go? I would not mind paying a little xtra to be sure it is in good working order before it gets to me. No leaks and works normal. ❓

Thanks, for close range .357 sounds good. I have taken several deer with my Colt Python so under 50 yards I would say that would be a winner!

Here’s what I’ve been told about the XP .308 and .357 testing. They are based on the same lower as the Ranger.45, making a caliber change an option.
They’ve tested a 36″ barrel .308 and using a 125 grain bullet made 318 fpe. Shooting a 68 grain, made 240 fpe. It goes supersonic pretty easy.
The .357 was shooting a 34″ barrel, but they want to get their own barrel spec’d out, they were using a 1:16 twist and feel it’s too much twist. Anyway, shooting a 135 grain it made 340 fpe and shooting a 201 grain it made 420 fpe.
Threading the muzzle end is an option on all of their barrels.

The reason they haven’t brought them out, they want to catch up on the .45, .58 and .72 orders first. Although, I know they have a list already from guys that just want one and will wait a while.

Mostly sitting gun. I would call from a low tree stand. Foxes coyotes and sometimes deer. yes in NJ you get a permit to treat deer like varmints on the farm. 😆 😀

XP Airguns is working on a .308/.357 so you might want to wait on that and see if there will be a shroud option. .45 would be better for deer, but much tougher to shroud I’m sure.

The Ranger is still an airgun…so, why not quiet it down with a shroud? It may be a technical challenge, but I’m sure it can be done. I have heard that the shroud on a Rapid only goes beyond the muzzle 4″. It may also require relocating the fill port further back on the reservior. It may even require a can of some description, but I’m sure it’s possible.

Is this a walkin’ gun Slayer, or do you plan to shoot it from a rest? Certainly rested guns can be longer. What type of vermints are you trying to control?

I like the ranger but very concerned about noise level.
I see the groups guys get with the ranger they are great!
I hunt a farm and could really increase my varmint control with something quiet. The farm is surrounded by developements now and blasting away is not an option although legal the cops would be there again!

Slayer,

Don’t do it man. If you’ve followed enough post on the ROGUE you will see that the only 2-3 guys that reported anything GREAT all worked for Crosman and or other affiliates…etc..etc. The other (NORMAL people )sobs that bought one don’t have anything good to report. And on top of that, 1 or 2 of the guys that had good success with the Rogue all said that the guys that don’t have good accuracy did not have their ROGUE in a PROPER rest…..LOL…OMFG! So all of a sudden, no one but the CROSMAN EXPERTS no how to REST A RIFLE. I shot one at 100 yards from a fresh fill using 3 different bullets and doing a 5 shot string per bullet per fill. Non of the groups had ALL 5 shots on a 8.5×11″ sheet of paper 😯 Guess i don’t know how to properly set a heavy assed gun in a rest.

But of course my Rapid 25 put over 7 shots into a nice group at 100 using the same rest….lol. And that was in 10+ mph wind.

AND IF YOUR GONNA SPEND ABOUT 1300-1500 BUCKS BRO, SPEND IT ON A XP AIRGUN……………..NOT A CROSMAN!!! CROSMAN is not and i repeat NOT a 1000+ dollar airgun company.

Why not give your money to a company that does all those things prior to letting the rifle out of their shop?

XP Airguns comes to mind… http://xp-airguns.com/Home_Page.php

Sure it’s not covered in plastic but it’s fucking accurate and well made. 😉

And the one guy that claims accuracy has bypassed the computer and just set the valve to 4400us.

The big “game changer” with the Rogue is supposed to be it’s special valve that is “supposed to” produce 20 shots at 150fpe. This ability has not been demonstrated.

To this day there has not been one single 20 shot string report for the Rogue. Not one. I don’t expect to ever see one, either.

Slayer, can we talk? 😉 Dude, a rogue? Really? The one that I have personal experience with is a piece of junk. It was returned to crosman for “repair” and the owner still isn’t happy with it. Crosman just doesn’t take enough pride in their products. I think we really lucked out with the .25 Marauders. Other guys are now complaining about accuracy issues. I am hoping that it is just a few isolated problems rather than the results of changing barrel manufacturers to save money on production costs.

If I was interested in a big bore, I would get with Tony at TalonTunes and try to get one of his rifles. I’m not sure when they are going to be available, but I would wait for one of his. I’ve never heard of any junk out of TalonTunes.
