Q:

The 1/4 mile Soda can shot! (TD257 at 446 yards)

The Short story:
I came up with the idea of shooting a soda can at distance cause it’s something I’ve tried to do with my powder burners. But with my PB’s i try it at 500 yards which i thought to be too far for my Airgun. So, while out one weekend with the TD257, i decided to simply back the zoom down on my scope to 6x and then aim and shoot at a rock face some 402 yards away. I was shocked when just by guessing at the aim point in my scope, i was able to hit the rock the very first time. After getting a good aim point reference, i was dropping bullets in the same area shot after shot. So then it hit me, “I COULD HIT A SODA CAN AT THAT RANGE AND THAT WOULD MAKE A COOL VIDEO IF I DO HIT IT”! I then talked to Unrepenentsinner about his Hoch bullets and mentioned to him that i hit a rock face and that i want to try and hit a soda can at that distance. URS then sais, “WHY JUST 400 yards, WHY NOT DO IT AT 440 YARDS SO YOU CAN CLAIM A 1/4 MILE SHOT WITH A AIRGUN”. Then all the lights went on and someone WAS HOME…lol! I then told URS, I, WILL DO IT! I then contacted RJ Porter about using his FINE cast 102 gr Spitzer bullets for the task because they have a much higher BC than my Lyman 257420 bullets. Long story short, the TASK was accomplished!

The 102 gr Spitzers that made the shot:

Awesome shooting Cedric! 😎

Who needs to call coyotes any more? Looks like a 400 yard ethical head shot to me! 😈

thanx F. U. RYAN….lol!

I’m still high from the shot too….lol!

I got a couple more cans still there and plan on taking them out as well.

Amazing ………….

quote Tofazfou:

HARRY………….. 😆

It was a tough shot for sure. The scope is plenty clear but damn it man, at 6x, a 4×2″ can looks like a pin in a haystack at that range.

That’s for sure….It looked like a rock to me until I heard the shot and saw the rock explode 😀

Doug you must have dicks for fingers, because I just watched Cedric shoot the heck out of some cans on my phone at an ungodly distance. That is some fine shooting cuz I can’t even see shit that far out until he connects 😯

RC,

Thanks to you plenty for the great idea to do this shot at this range. Leave it up to me and i would have been 46 yards SHORT! LOL! Sometimes i can be soooooooo simple. And also, sometime soon, i expect either you or John Bowman to beat my feat….lol! I’m just sitting back waiting so i can say, “i knew that was gonna happen”. But of course, i plan on beating your guys FEAT….lol!

THANX RC!

Doug,

I’m clueless about phones bro and what they can do. Sorry.

Slayer,

Thanx Sir. I am seriously proud of the shot and Dougs work on this gun. Funny thing is, i was gonna either sell the gun for parts or turn it into a 9mm. Both of those would have been a mistake and i’m glad i kept it all those years. I still wish i would have bought the Condor Frame but, overall, i’m EXTACTIC! And yes sir, it was fucking hard to see those cans at 6x. I will put it like this, the video camera during this filming session was at FULL 20x “OPTICAL” and i could barely see them in the video while on HD. So just think about what i saw through my scope…..lol! And i were contacts and i’m near sighted…lol! SERIOUSLY!

First off you can shoot!
@nd I want that air gun!
Nice video these old eyes would not see the can at 6 power and 406 yards! lmao
You seriously must be proud of your build and shooting abilities.

I guess it is not phone friendly. Can’t get it with my phone.

Pretty good video and a air gun feat that will be legend.

Regards,

Roachcreek
