Q:

The American Made E-TaC Adapter: A Success Story

Hey Guys,

First off, I want to thank everyone who has purchased an E-TaC from me. The success has been overwhelming; humbling, actually.

Wanted to drop in here to tell you about the recent upgrades, changes, and developments with the new Ergonomic Talon and Condor Adapter (E-TaC).

I understand that while not necessarily a new concept; bringing an actual American made product to market in a few weeks, is.

The original thought was to put some kind of adapter on the tank to allow the user to see the pressure in the tank and fill the tank without taking if off the gun. However, since the Talon/Condor (T/C) platform can be a bit lacking in ergonomic comfort, I searched and found several gunstock manufacturers and custom builders and queried them about drop at heel and cast-off. Turns out that 2.3″ of drop at heel and .3″ of cast-off are the preferred stock dimensions. I then proceeded to mill the E-TaC to provide these recommended dimensions. The result is a more comfortable cheek weld, and when used with the WokButt, better shoulder position. The true benefits of the E-TaC are fully realized with the WokButt.

Through numerous emails, pms, posts, and phone calls, the scope of the E-TaC has grown. I am now producing them with threads for the T/C bottle, C02 bottles with valve, and HPA tanks. In each of these different configurations there are straight, right and left hand models.

However, these developments have not raised the price one bit. They are still $100 shipped. NO PayPal fees. They include the Foster fill backcheck nipple, 6000psi gauge, O-rings as needed, and timing shims.

While the last two weeks have been enjoyable, I’m still not satisfied that I’ve got all the bases covered. I want the E-TaC line-up to be a “must-have” accessory for the T/C platform. Therefore, additional development must continue.

First, I have been working to provide a better method than shims for timing the E-TaC into the correct position. Honestly, removing and re-installing the bottle adapter ring in the back of the gun frame is probably the best way to do this. The shims work, but perhaps are not the most elegant solution.

Secondly, the inability to take the bottle off the gun has deterred many members of the T/C crowd. While this wasn’t considered a necessary design requirement at the beginning, it has indeed been added to the wants and needs department. Sooo, not to be outdone, I can make the E-TaC removable from the gun. Yes, it will get longer by about 1″, bringing the total addition to length-of-pull to 2.6-inches. One design consideration is that if the user wants to take the bottle off the gun to fill, a fill nipple is not required, and can be omitted. What does this do for you? it LOWERS the cost $10. So you get a removable E-TaC with gauge, shims, and orings AND it only costs $90 shipped with no Paypal fees.

Third, that “wierd angle” the tank hangs at bothers some people. They like the classic straight lines of the T/C platform. So, why not produce an E-TaC that drops the tank straight down about .75” to get the proper drop at comb. Sure, says I, why not? Let’s call it the E-TaCD. Since this is considerably more work, I’ll be offering the Straight Drop E-TaCD for $120 shipped, NO paypal fees. Still comes with the Foster fill, gauge, shims and orings.

I hope you all can see that making the E-TaC is a pleasure for me. Further developments, upgrades, and improvements can only happen with the input of T/C users. So, please, let me know what it takes to earn your trust.

Just put a regular tank output regulater on the piglet tank and a 3′ microbore hose going to the gun and you can walk around the woods all day shootin! Just like a ghost buster! …don’t cross the streams…

with what regulators can it be combined ? are there 300bar to something like 150 bar regulators possible? and if so where can i find these regulators ? is it possible to buy a complete set tank e-tac regulator?

For a big caliber, you don’t want to use regulator, mine setup without a regulator. If you’re planning to shoot .25 Cal 31 grain or smaller, I think 2000 psi regulator is best for that, you can also try 2200 psi regulator if you like.

If you still want to use regulator with heavier slugs, I would recommend to go with 2500 psi regulator at minimum.

Jim can help you with the adapter however you like, he did mine.

No problem, I’ll be here.

Jim

I want to got the route of a hose to Bigger tank so I can keep the stock. I will get in touch with you closer to end of year when I get my bonus. Would have bought one already, but remodeling and moneys tight.
Thanks

Assman83,

It sure is. There are two ways to do this. One is the big bottle would be connected to the rifle-bottle regulator’s “in” port. The rifle-bottle and regulator would screw into the back of the E-TaCo2, and the valve would go in the other side of the E-TaCo2.

Or, you could regulate the big tank’s output to the E-TaC’s (either E-TaC HPA or E-TaC) input on the rifle-bottle. This would fill your rifle-tank with the regulated air.

I can custom make the adapters and you will need female fosters and a hose.

Jim

I’ve asked this before but want to make sure. Could I run a line from a bigger tank to the E-tac fill adapter and have regulated shots and shoot until bigger tank was empty? It would be a 4500psi tank.
Thanks

Hey huckelberry,

The E-TaCo2 has the female CGA tank threads to accept a regulator like JDS or the like.

I would be happy to put together a package for you including tank, reg, and E-TaC.

JDS sells regulators with different output pressures.

Please PM me with your needs and I’m sure I can help you out.

Jim

Gents,

If you’re currently owned a AF Condor .25 Cal or bigger caliber, you should try the E-tac adapter with the 53ci bottle, it’s awesome and seem to be more power even when you’re using the stock valve, make sure it second generate stock valve, the old one does not do any good.

So give it a try gents, make sure you have a good shroud, otherwise it will be very loud.

Tried it with Jerry’s slugs “ring 6”, seem to be consistence and hit hard.

I just did a quick shoot count test, I got approximate 30+ shoot count from a fill 3000 psi down to 2000 psi by using “H&N with Extra Heavy .25 Cal, 30.7 Grains”, PWS adjusted down to zero, averages FPS from 1046 to 1056.

This large air bottle combined with the E-Tac adapter seem to work so well, but a little heavy 😛 , it’s good for target practices

* Consistence shoots
* More shoots per fill
* Quick fill without remove the bottle
* Monitor air gauge

He also made another stock for “Remington .308 bolt action”

dvu0704,

is that the gun that Tim Wilson made?

Looks like it will be a nice shooter… when it gets a barrel 😀

No, David Coggin made that gun.

That flute work makes the E-tac fit with the rifle real nice, pulls it all together if ya get my meaning. Turns a chunk of ‘ugly’ metal on the rifle into something to admire..

Great work Marmot

Jim,

it’s just a color, I careless about it, you can’t even see it after mounted it on the gun. the adapter fit perfect, that is all I needed 🙂

I took those pictures with Nikon 105mm micro lens, that made the color look bad isn’t it? don’t let the color fools you folks 😆

Thanks Jim,

Don.
