The American Made E-TaC Adapter: A Success Story

Hey Guys,

First off, I want to thank everyone who has purchased an E-TaC from me. The success has been overwhelming; humbling, actually.

Wanted to drop in here to tell you about the recent upgrades, changes, and developments with the new Ergonomic Talon and Condor Adapter (E-TaC).

I understand that while not necessarily a new concept; bringing an actual American made product to market in a few weeks, is.

The original thought was to put some kind of adapter on the tank to allow the user to see the pressure in the tank and fill the tank without taking if off the gun. However, since the Talon/Condor (T/C) platform can be a bit lacking in ergonomic comfort, I searched and found several gunstock manufacturers and custom builders and queried them about drop at heel and cast-off. Turns out that 2.3″ of drop at heel and .3″ of cast-off are the preferred stock dimensions. I then proceeded to mill the E-TaC to provide these recommended dimensions. The result is a more comfortable cheek weld, and when used with the WokButt, better shoulder position. The true benefits of the E-TaC are fully realized with the WokButt.

Through numerous emails, pms, posts, and phone calls, the scope of the E-TaC has grown. I am now producing them with threads for the T/C bottle, C02 bottles with valve, and HPA tanks. In each of these different configurations there are straight, right and left hand models.

However, these developments have not raised the price one bit. They are still $100 shipped. NO PayPal fees. They include the Foster fill backcheck nipple, 6000psi gauge, O-rings as needed, and timing shims.

While the last two weeks have been enjoyable, I’m still not satisfied that I’ve got all the bases covered. I want the E-TaC line-up to be a “must-have” accessory for the T/C platform. Therefore, additional development must continue.

First, I have been working to provide a better method than shims for timing the E-TaC into the correct position. Honestly, removing and re-installing the bottle adapter ring in the back of the gun frame is probably the best way to do this. The shims work, but perhaps are not the most elegant solution.

Secondly, the inability to take the bottle off the gun has deterred many members of the T/C crowd. While this wasn’t considered a necessary design requirement at the beginning, it has indeed been added to the wants and needs department. Sooo, not to be outdone, I can make the E-TaC removable from the gun. Yes, it will get longer by about 1″, bringing the total addition to length-of-pull to 2.6-inches. One design consideration is that if the user wants to take the bottle off the gun to fill, a fill nipple is not required, and can be omitted. What does this do for you? it LOWERS the cost $10. So you get a removable E-TaC with gauge, shims, and orings AND it only costs $90 shipped with no Paypal fees.

Third, that “wierd angle” the tank hangs at bothers some people. They like the classic straight lines of the T/C platform. So, why not produce an E-TaC that drops the tank straight down about .75” to get the proper drop at comb. Sure, says I, why not? Let’s call it the E-TaCD. Since this is considerably more work, I’ll be offering the Straight Drop E-TaCD for $120 shipped, NO paypal fees. Still comes with the Foster fill, gauge, shims and orings.

I hope you all can see that making the E-TaC is a pleasure for me. Further developments, upgrades, and improvements can only happen with the input of T/C users. So, please, let me know what it takes to earn your trust.

Thank you, Don for taking the time to post pictures.

I want to let everyone know that Don has been incredibly patient as I finished up some orders in order to get his custom E-TaC done.

I also wanted everyone to know the black oxide on his E-TaC is not typical. I blacked his adapter four times and is still came out lousy. From now on I’m getting a local shop to black them for me. Most have turned out good and black, but for whatever reason, his would not take the black.

Customer satisfaction is paramount for me. If anyone is not happy with their adapter, I will replace it.

I do like how the flutes turned out on his E-TaC. Being longer than usual, there was a lot of dead space and the flutes do dress it up.

Thanks, Don.

Regards,
Jim

I have an AF Condor .25 and using with the original stock AF tank. With the AF tank, I only get 10 full shots per fill, it’s not bad when hunting, but it’s not very convenient when shooting target, it really painful to refill the tank for every 10 shots. So I decided to purchased a bigger 53ci tank and contacted Jim to custom a removable “E-TaC Adapter” with gauge and foster, I also asked Jim to flutes/blued it.

I received Jim adapter last couple days, I did not have time to install it until today. I took a few pictures and wanted to share with you all. I also did a few test shoots with 3000 psi fill, it’s seem to be louder and more power than before by using the same AF valve removed from the AF tank, it’s getting late, I could not test it through the chrony.

The Adapter I received from Jim came with foster, gauge and some shims to adjust the adapter angled, I like to adjust the gauge faced up and foster faced down for better view and easier to fill. So if you wanted the same setup, please contact Jim “Marmot_Militia

So here is some picture I took just few minutes ago.

Jim-
You had to wait til ole SAW bought a house and combined incomes with the wife 😥 😥 😥 😥 now didn’t ya ???

Once I settle in the new crib, I will be contacting you about your product, looks great man, good work.

SAW

If you can figure out a way to put a regulator in there, you won’t be able to make them fast enough. 😀 I’ll order the first one, that’s the only way it’s woth modifying my stock for the extra length. 😀 60 full power shots, and a quieter gun sounds nice. 😀

Thanks marmot it looks great 🙂

quote fastfreddy:

Do you have pictures with the straight style unit on a rifle? I was just trying to picture it but need visual aides

I also need your pictures to understand all the nuances of your explanation.

Regards from Spain and thanks for your great job. 😉

FastFreddy,

I have some prototype pictures below. I will be getting some more pictures posted tonight showing many of the different styles, including the blued versions.

Jim

Do you have pictures with the straight style unit on a rifle? I was just trying to picture it but need visual aides 🙂 I am very interested in this addition to the AF rifle.

Congrats on your hard work Jim, like I said before I think this is a great accessory and plan to get one as soon as I can. Your pricing seems very fair for the work involved. Best of luck to your E-tac product line!

Jim,

That all sounds great and original thoughts and designs should be rewarded with success. I hope this takes off and does well.

It is an upgrade a lot of people have been waiting for.

Throw up some picts of the upgrades when you can! 😀
