Q:

The Condor Has Landed But I think I got the Shaft.

Just got my 2nd hand Condor from Pyramid. They sent out some Emails last week. Some of you probably got ’em…?

At any rate, I had just ordered a brand new 2012 Condor from Pyramid which was backordered. Two days later I get an Email advertising 2011 models at a considerable savings. Evidently these models don’t have the spin-lock / gauge type bottle but I’m OK with that cuz I plan on installing Tony’s angled fill tank adaptor. They also had a used 2011 Condor in .25 cal. for sale so I saved myself $105.00 and called and changed my order. I ordered the used rifle with a full, lifetime warranty.

The rifle arrived this morning and if they hadn’t told me that it was used I probably wouldn’t have known. The rifle looks spotless. However, it didn’t come with the filling adapter which connects the bottle / tank to my female foster fitting on my Benjamin hand pump. I know that the new rifles don’t come with the Scuba tank clamp unless it’s ordered that way but I thought that they all came with the basic adapter shown here. http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/AirForce_1_4_male_BSPP_Adapter_For_AirForce_Guns/105

I called and was told that this item had to be ordered separately which I promptly did but I’m doubting that the new guns are shipped without this very important part. I just forked over another $30.00 for this part plus shipping. Did I get screwed or do the rifles come without this adapter?

Thanks in advance…

Thanks Moneyshot. I see what you mean. Getting much better strings now.

reduce pw # and try lower fills, your strings may get longer.

After a quick sighting in I was able to get the rifle to connect with my Caldwell rimfire spinner target set at fifty yards. Now, when I shoot this target with my Benjamin Discovery I am rewarded with a satisfying “ThhhwaCK!!!!” and a nice back and forth rocking of the pendulum. However, When the Condor fires the .25 cal JSB at the same spinner the result is the unmistakable sound of a lead projectile exploding followed by the spinner flipping completely up to the reset bar and awaiting a shot to the trigger spot which promptly resets the target. The Condor set at #5 five accomplishes this task with ease. Oh,…..I’d say I’m impressed alright!

My only concern thus far while experimenting with power levels between 4 & 6 is that I found it difficult to hold zero for more than ten shots or so. The power was dropping noticeably causing POI shift downward at 50 yrds. Brand new gun. Lots of time needed to determine what I should expect. I’ll say this about my impression thus far….. When you hit your target,…..You’ll know it! And so will your target!!!

Thanks aninias. I’m in contact with Tony via email and will be placing my order for a shroud as soon as I hear back for m him.

Once I get this sucker quieted down I can get down to some serious shooting.

TT shroud is impressively quiet, worth every penny.

Well, the adapter has arrived. I proceeded to charge the tank via my Benjamin hand pump. The first thing that I learned is that it takes 520 strokes to completely fill an empty Condor bottle using this pump. 😯

The second thing that I learned is that on the lowest power setting the Condor will propel a .25 cal. pellet at a surprising speed. It completely buried itself in a 3/4″ piece of plywood. 😯

The third thing that I’ve learned today is that on the highest power setting the report from this rifle is unnerving! I’m at work in an urban area and the guys at the neighboring shop all came outside to see what the noise was. OMFG!!!!! 😯 😯 😯 Blew right through that plywood and dented the 1/4″ steel wall of one of my shipping container boxes out back. That’s 1/4 corrugated steel! I wouldn’t expect any more from a standard velocity .22 rimfire.

Definitely need to look into some type of moderator. WOW!!!!

So far, I’m impressed….Very impressed 😆

Thanks for all of the help folks. The adapter is due to arrive this morning and I’ve got tomorrow off. WAHOO!!! Of course my scope isn’t here yet either so I’ll be temporarily using a 4 X 32 Simmons just to see what it’ll print on paper. I’ll report back with my initial impressions.

Hoot,

Thanks for the kind referral.

Pandemic,

There are no “Jerry’s slugs.” That nomenclature refers only to my pathetic lurking here.

My sons make these slugs from a mold made by Gary Barnes. I’m just the sales toady (but an all powerful toady!).

In any case, you can PM me, follow the directions in the link you posted or just guess at contacting me.. and we’ll get you some expensive but effective ammo. 🙂

thanks hoot :thumb:

Yes and yes! PM him and ask/tell him what you need.

I ordered some six rings, and they are serious equipment for nailing stuff that needs to stay nailed. If your pcp is very powerful, consider some of his heavier slugs. They arrived in a vacuum packed bag.

I don’t use mine for everyday shooting, a bit expensive, but if I want something seriously dead, then Jerry’s slugs are the go to item for me.

The only accommodation I made was to see what mildot was needed to get the scope on “zero” with the heavier slugs at the 100 feet I shoot my critters at.

Can’t go wrong and money well spent.

question hoot
are the surefire slugs the same as the jerry slugs http://www.talonairgun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3929&highlight=jerry+slugs
stupid question i know since the posters name is jerry
do i pm him to order some ❓ 😕 ❓

Hardwayman…I love that avatar. It’s bound to piss off PETA, and shows a sick mind and attitude that fits in here just fine.

Let us know how everything works out. That .25 is going to blow your mind with it’s potential. Tons of power, and the barrel will out shoot anyone’s ability to hold steady. You really need to try out some of Jerry’s seven ringed slugs. They are unbelievable, as are his other sizes of ringed slugs.

There are enough mods available on this forum to make that rascal do everything but deal cards.

Regards,

😆

Thanks anyway Pandemic. That’s a generous gesture. All is well. I’m used to waiting…..I’ve got a wife. 😉

if you lived near milwaukee wi you could have used mine to fill your tanks
looks like you have to wait sucks 😥
