Q:

The HDD defiantly dose it’s job!

I decided that there was just no way I could live with the gap on the shroud I built, so I built another that is 2 inches shorter with the relief cut for the tube the proper size, it is just as effective as the first but looks 1,000% better, in fact it came out good enough for me to call it a keeper and give it a coat of paint.

I also went ahead and bought one of Steve’s HDD’s from AOA, they shipped it out to me the same day and being so close I had it the next day, now that is what I call service!

here is a short sting with the HDD installed shooting cp’s (14.3grain) at 85*, after 30 shots and I was still well over 550fps I decided there wasn’t any reason to continue for its clear it’s doing it’s job and working just fine.

The next thing I will do to it is open up the barrel port and install the poly transfer tube.

Thanks WoK for selling me your baby, I’m thinking it’s defiantly a keeper!

Thanks GTBJ and Rob,

I guess I might have to buy an HDD and wash the stink off it! I don’t shoot the Disco but I figure Timmy deserves an accurate gun as hard as he has worked to become a better marksman. I wish I had bought the darn thing from Mac 1 to begin with as then I’d be confident in the gun and now would be just adding one more refinement but oh well.

Did you notice any change to the sound of the gun? Would you recommend the HDD for a gun that only sees air? I’ve got a compressor so saving every bit of air isn’t that important to me but consistency is usually a good thing…

I’ve had very good luck using HDD’s in 22xx PCP conversions. Sound-wise, it takes the ‘frap’ sound and turns it into a nice ‘pop’.. definitely a bit lower noise level, but the big benefit is increased consistency.

In my experience, you normally lose a small amount of velocity, but the consistency more than makes up for it.

with the shroud I built for it I don’t believe you would be able to hear the extra co2 anyways, what I can tell you is before I could hear the hammer hitting mutable times and now it is just one solid thud.

Looks great, must be fun to shoot. It’s .22 right?

sorry about taking so long Deuts, but yes it’s a .22

That looks GREAT!!!

1- The HDD, do you have a before and after comparison?
2- How much are the shrouds, or let me know when you decide.
3- Poly transfer port, please explain and where to get, etc.

I have traded around and kinda got into the Crosman pistols because-
1- I am not working and
2- they are cheap to work on and
3- they are easy to work on (that is the only gun I can take apart and put back together, LOL!)

here is a string before the hdd

happened once more and quit, out of co2 any way

… and yes I have fixed the trigger, and it is very safe, smooth and predictable once again.

the poly port mod is used in conjunction with the valve mod as well as opining up the port in the barrel a bit to the i/d of some 1/4 inch ice maker tubing, if you do some searching around on the green form you can find more info on them.

here is some places to do some reading on mods

http://crosmanmods.cjb.net/

I am waiting ’till I get the tubing which should be this thursday ’till I commit to building any, I need to make sure the supplies will be up to par for the job at hand, if you want send me a p/m with what you have and we can talk about it and go from there.

That looks great. Once you get the smell of Asshole off the HDD you will be all set 😆

That is too funny!!!

ahhh cool thanks for the explanation

I ordered a few small items from them. It was taking a long time to recieve the order so I called. Turns out an item wasn’t in stock but I was never notified of so. Kept calling after period of time not hearing anything from them. When I called they acted like it was a hassle. Finally got the order and the backordered item was in poor shape like it had been rolling around in a junk drawer.

Thanks for all the complement guys, I always like them 8)

Cyg, HDD stands for hammer de bouncing device, it is basically a 3 dollar pice of plastic that is sold for 20 bucks and goes behind the bolt and has a a little key way cut into it to catch the hammer from rebounding on the spring and striking the valve pin which releases extra co2 after the shot, altho it is a bit expensive for what it is it dose work and will pay for it’s self over time.

looks like I should start to offer the shroud for the 22xx line, I also posted on the green form and it looks like I have a few emails from that inquiring about them as well, I have no idea what they will run at this time, I need to find some better stock to cut the strippers and end caps out of that is closer to the tube size as well as find a supplier for the tubing, I will talk to the guy that supplies me with the larger tubing and stock and see what he can do for me, Bean, send me a p/m and we’ll se what we can work out, Picudo, you have a reply to your last p/m.

Air tight, what happened with AoA? I have only dealt with them a couple times, but I have never had a problem with them, in fact they sent me the rebuild kit for the pump free of charge because they told me they had one left when they didn’t and I had to wait for about a month for them to come in.

what is an HDD in this regard ?

quote Picudo:

GTBJ, are you thinking on selling shrouds for the 22xx? If you do, I’ll definitely want one!!! Nice Job!!

Me too if you can make something that sleek for a 2300 with a 10.1″ barrel.

I won’t give AOA my money either… straight up assholes they can be.

The shrould looks better, not that there was anything wrong with the first.

You still haven’t began to come down the backside of the bell curve yet with that string. Looks like it works, for a 2$0 piece of slotted plastic.
