The Hill Pump has arrived!!!!(my encounter with the pump)
well ive been looking for a way to recharge my matador for some time now, and my way of doing that was with my 3000psi scuba tank…now being that the tank is 3000psi i was only getting a charge of 170bar MAX…that wasnt cutting it because id take a few shots and im down to 100bar….so after some deliberating over the shoebox…great white tank or the hill pump, I decided to buy the hill pump only because it was much cheaper than the other options….plus i dont shoot everyday so the pump seemed like the better choice……
well the pump came in today and set up was quick (about 10mins)….i had taken a trip to my local scuba shop to fill my gun but he was only able to get the gun to about 185bar….so i hooked up the hill pump to see how hard it would be to pump from 185 to about 205-210 bar….(being that everybody said getting up to 200 is the hardest)…..well 6 pumps in and i hit 200 bar…and another 4-5 hit 210bar….i couldnt beleive how easy it was….after watching all these videos and reviews of people complaining saying that it was back breaking….Take my word…its not what they say it is….now im 6’2 220lbs that could have helped the stoke of the pump be easier, but regardless it was easy and im extreamly happy with the hill pump…

Once I shoot down to the suggested bar on the matador…the only way to empty the air tube would be to press on the pin that the hammer slaps to degas the rifle correct?….I want to do a video demonstrating a fill from 0-210bar.

Well from what i read here your not suppose to shoot the gun below a specific psi/bar….so filling the gun from empty isnt really going to happen. but id like to see how long it would take to pump the gun from empty.

Does the Hill have a recommended time that you should pump before a cool down period ?
Pumps are great to get you into the game (PCP’s),for regulated guns with moderate appetites, to top off, and as a back up. But they are way short in capacity/capability as you escalate in the game.
Bringing 500 cc tanks up from 2000-32000 psi is quite a few pumps as I recall. For me it was a issue of not having the patience to pump slow and give it cool down periods.
Guns like the AF Condor and Air Ranger gave about 35-40 shots before needing to be pumped again. Dang pump didn’t cool the most in 5 minutes and as I recall took over 150 pumps.
Now my Matador and it’s modest air consumption are right up a pumps alley.
But I went with a Nitrogen tank and Air Hog Carbon tank before I got it and haven’t looked back.
I really like the fact that I am always running moisture free.
A good Compressor is in my future and a substantial one at that.

I am 6′ and 200 lbs and I sit and drink a beer and watch tv while my tanks fill. It isn’t that hard once you get used to it. 😀
Been using Pumps for years now, I too can’t belive all those crybabys.
And I had Guns that where 500cc air reservoir and 200 FPE so not many shots and lots of refilling, tedious but not hard at all,…ans I’m 5’6″ 150 pounds
I can tell you from the Shoebox compressors it only takes a little over 2 hours to top my 4500 PSI tanks off from 2800 psi but filling the tank from scratch takes about 12 hours. 😮

I´m filling from 100 – 200bar with 150 pumps 😆 with 3 pauses due to cool down the pump. 3×50 pumps and you have 200bar 😉
