Q:

The most basic question of all…Which GUN ?? Condor or SS

I have to decide which gun to get…I need a little help here.

I like the Condor for its power.
I have to have a quiet gun so I can shoot in the basement, the wife works nights, so the Talon SS fits the bill, at 20ft/lb its power is ok, but
I want it all!

I know there are aftermarket moderators/shrouds for these guns, even a section here on making your own.

I’m sure many of you Condor owners have these add-ons already.
Do they work well enough that you can shoot in the house or backyard without disturbing the neighbors? Or god forbid waking up the wife? (very dangerous)

So I wan’t the Condor if I can quiet it down, if not the SS would be ok.
As long as the accuracy between the two guns is about the same?

Either way I look forward to a more accurate gun than my Gamo Whisper. I like my little gamo..have had a lot of fun with it…killed a lota squirrels. Now I’m hooked and want more accuracy.

It is my plan to just get the plain jane model from PA, and add to it as the funds permit.

So I need help, which way to go?

Buy the Talon SS and you can add baffles to quiet it down for the house. Buy a 24″ barrel and drop it in when you hunt and it will give you velocities approaching the Condor as well.

Mrnewbie,

For what you want, shooting with very little noise so as to not disturb neighbors or the wife, the TSS is by the far your best choice.

While the Condor can be quieted down, it will never get as quiet as the TSS.

Both can be tuned down for stealthiness, again the Condor will never get as quiet as the TSS.

A Condor with a LDC on it is a very long and somewhat clumsy gun, a TSS is stock form is a joy to handle.

The TSS will have plenty of power to take down your squirrels, while the Condor will have perhaps too much power for a urban enviroment, it is a power house as far as air guns go and even if the nose level is controlled, over penetration can be a problem.

If you wish more power later on, buy a 24 inch 22 or 25 barrel, that will increase your power considerably, but still be quieter than the Condor if you use a LDC.

And there is the issue of air supply, the Condor gets perhaps 20 shots per fill, the TSS gets 40 shots. If your doing a lot of shooting and pumping this can get tiring.

I have both, this year I shot thousands of 18 grain Exacts in 22 days doing depredatation work here on the vineyard with migrating birds. My Condor had a Talon valve installed and a Airhog LDC, so it is quieter than a stock Condor with LDC, my TSS had the Home Depoe mod. I would trade guns depending on the circumstance, for instance, when I had to take shots close to the neighbors house, or if the Condor ran low on air.

Several times when I picked up the TSS, and shot, I momentarily suspected the gun had malfunctioned and given me a dud, the noise level is that much different.

Either way tho, you will enjoy your descision.
