Q:

Thinking about a Condor in .25 need input

I posted this question over on another site and thought I would ask the same thing here. I’ve been considering a Condor in .25 cal and curious as to the total weight with bipod and scope? Is it best to buy new and mod it myself or look for a well cared for used one that already has some mods done? What specific mods are considered essential and which are more up to the individual? I already have a Shoebox and Carbon tank for my other PCPs. Noise is not a factor out here at my farm. Any input would be great. Thanks

I’be been doing a little more reading on the forum and have come to the conclusion that as long as I don’t try and overpower a Condor it should be a decent platform to work around. I’ve seen some of the posts where the guys are going to big bores pushing them at high speeds and having issues. How many fps are some of you getting and the results in accuracy? I’m noticing that they are hold sensitive because of frame flex, etc. Any other quirks that a guy should know about before buying?

I was thinking that the TTTA adapter would make refilling easier with the Foster fitting plus get the scope closer to the center of the bore. I was going for simplicity as much as anything. I wouldn’t mind a shorter barrel at the expense of some velocity to help keep the weight down. I already have some 100+ fpe airguns and was just looking at a new platform to tinker with. It sounds like a Wokguard is a must to stiffen the frame and utilize an AR15 style grip. How short of a barrel can I go and still have decent performance? I kinda like the ultra short carbine looks for weight and handling. This has been great input to my original question and given me a lot of options to think about. What barrel lengths have you guys played with and had good results with?

i prefer an SS valve with the .25 but thats me…with a very little messing (if any) around with the valve and you should get around 50 fpe at least (24″ .25 barrel) which is just about perfect for jsb or kodiaks…

if you want 100+ fpe get a .22lr…cheaper in every aspect. its not until you have shot about 20.000 rounds that the airgun begins to get cheaper…thats a lot of shooting !!!!

I do have access to tools. How difficult is the TTTA to install for a newbie to AF guns?

That’s correct. The installation of the TTTA will make that much easier to achieve.

I’ve been reading about the height of the scope rings and how it affects things. As I understand it the closer the scope is to the bore of the rifle the better. Am I interpreting what I’ve read correctly?

Hey Badger,

I think you’re on the right track with the whole “airgunning as healing therapy.” It worked for me after neck surgery, and continues to be my favorite hobby.

If you have access to tools, the installation of the TTTA would not be difficult. As far as proper height scope mounts go, whatever is confortable and repeatable for you. Start with mediums, then adjust as needed.

Anyone? Or a favorite scope and mount combo that has worked well for you?

After doing a bit of research it looks like if I were to buy a new Condor the first upgrade I would want is the tank adapter from Talon Tunes so I can charge the tank without having to remove it. Since I already have a carbon fiber tank with a Foster adapter it should be a no brainer right? How difficult is the adapter to install? The other advantage would be better scope height with lower mounts. What mounts work well with the offset adapter?

My thoughts exactly. Now if I can find the spare change while paying all of these pesky medical bills I’ll run a wanted ad in the classifieds and see what I can turn up.

I’m getting ready for some back surgery in the very near future and this has been really therapeutic for me to take my mind off of what lies ahead. It will also give me something to think about while I’m recovering. These Air Force guns are really starting to blow up my skirt.

Hey bro, you better make up your mind now, and place your order. Nowadays, you’re up and walking the day after surgery. Yea, ya hurt for a while, but your hehab will be a lot more fun if you’re shooting, instead of just thinking about it. Good luck!

I forgot to mention that the .257 and .308 caliber setup might be of interest down the road.

How about a list of how you guys have your Condors set up such as barrel length, stocks, scopes, tank setup, etc. I’m still fumbling around trying to decide. I’m kinda leaning toward the short barrel carbine setup. Could you post some pics of your rigs? Thanks

I’ve already been eyeing your mods WOK. Nice work.
