Top rail too high…?
Anyone whose mounted a dedicated Night Vision scope to any gun knows they are a little high – On the Talon’s they are ridiculously high due to the fact that NV Scopes are generally high, and you have the added height of a weaver to Air gun adapter AND the high to begin with Scope mounting rail.
I’ve had a few NV scopes, don’t have one right now but will be getting one shortly if all goes to plan so here’s the start of me modding my Talon to give a better NV scope height.
Stripped gun waiting butchering –
Thin top rail gone –
Removing the front –
Removing the back part –
I got tired of sawing and broke out the reciprocal –
Rough cuts all done – on to the finishing work –
Milling the back –
And the front –
Voila –
Now I just have to drill and top a hole for the cocking handle on the right side of the Breech and then cut a slot for the new breech position….

it has 13 cross slots milled into it… So should be roughly 13cm plus maybe 2 cm for the extra bits at the end based on an approximate 10mm ctc spacing on the slots.
I’d prefer 18cm to span both dovetailed sections… Might have to mill my own unless anyone knows of something longer.
I’m not sure if the rail on the NV scope is removable, sold it a while ago.
So far so good – gun cocks and functions as normal.
Looks pretty good with the Tank.
I’ll probably start looking for a long .22 – Weaver adapter to replace it. As it is now, I could mount my Tasco scope and look through the scope – But my face is pressed pretty hard on the tank.
Now I just have to decide which NV scope I want – Wish Yukon would hurry up with the dedicated digital NV scope.

I was also wondering, can the mount on the night vision scope be removed? Judging solely from the pics, it seems you save ~3/4″ from removing the AF “dorsal fin”. I wonder if you could get the same effect if the mount on the scope is custom machined….

Taths just great. You are resolving the only thing il dont like of Af. Now your scope will be much more close to the barrel! Really great. less difference of POI at different distances.
Now… You change also your tank to a micro? i mean how will you do to aim?
Ill use high mono rings and had to push my cheek again the tank.

That looks like it could get rid of some flex providing the tri-rail is tight enough. Let us know how that works out (I know you will).

and a little experience to easily make the heel of a bull puppy – remote adapter for the rise of CO2 in the front of the tank, a second series and a new rail link trigger and handle new …. not so difficult.
