Q:

Top rail too high…?

Anyone whose mounted a dedicated Night Vision scope to any gun knows they are a little high – On the Talon’s they are ridiculously high due to the fact that NV Scopes are generally high, and you have the added height of a weaver to Air gun adapter AND the high to begin with Scope mounting rail.

I’ve had a few NV scopes, don’t have one right now but will be getting one shortly if all goes to plan so here’s the start of me modding my Talon to give a better NV scope height.

Stripped gun waiting butchering –

Thin top rail gone –

Removing the front –

Removing the back part –

I got tired of sawing and broke out the reciprocal –

Rough cuts all done – on to the finishing work –

Milling the back –

And the front –

Voila –

Now I just have to drill and top a hole for the cocking handle on the right side of the Breech and then cut a slot for the new breech position….

YN; Truly a nice piece of work. Queen and Country are proud of you. Colonialists in both America and Canada are in awe. No joke, nice work. AKULA

That is awesome! I’ve been trying to figure out a way to put the scope closer down to the barrel, but the tank is in the way. I guess using this with a night vision scope is the only sensible way to use this mod. But good work on the custom job, it looks great YN!

Y.N. You must have balls as big as coconuts 😯 To do that to your gun 8)

I had nothing else going on and Walkonking was getting on me so here’s the cocking slot –

Tape to let me know where to stop milling, didnt want to scribe for obvious reasons and tape is easier than a marker –

Finished, Thats probably not the cocking handle I’ll end up using though, started out as a .308 Condor Cocking handle, then changed to a 2240 and now its back to SS… but for how long I dont know –

I said right at the bottom of my first post… kinda hidden there though so I can see how it got missed.

Just drill and tap a new cocking handle hole on the side of the breech and then mill a new slot in the side of the gun.

How are you planning on cocking the gun? Maybe you could start making bolt action airforce guns. 8)

Thanks !

Wouldnt take someone with the know how and a bit of experience to easily make the Talon into a bull pup – CO2 adapter remoted to the front mounted tank, another tri rail further forward for the scope and a trigger linkage and new pistol grip…. not that hard.

BUT – thats beyond me for the moment. Here’s a picture of just how ridiculously high NV scopes can be on the AF frame –

Now that is interesting. I cant wait to see it done. Get a laser on there when its finished and check for frame flex as well.

Hell Ya!

Now that is some ninja gunsmithing
