So what if it was an accident?
Shes dead,hes not.
Only complication is if they have any kids. It would be tough to lose a mother, then see your dad put in jail. But thats what he deserves.
Fucking idiots like him are what make this world an even harder place to live in.
My opinion….We’re being judgemental on this guy and no one seems to have all the facts. Give him the benefit of doubt that it was indeed an accident. We shouldn’t be calling him names and such unless we have all the facts guys. As of now he lost his wife and may have accidentally took both parents away from his son if he winds up in prison for a stretch. I say we need more info. Ok i’m off my soap box now.
Shot her in the back?
Why did the judge want $150,000 bail, for an accident?
Maybe the judge sensed something other than an accident?

Had the same sort of thing here too. Except it was a five year old boy who shot his 3 year old sister. Tragic. First thing that happened was the Gov’ started making noises about bans and licences and wot not. Its an easy crowd pleaser to say ban them. The majority of people dont shoot, so they are eager to lap up the BS that they are told by the media. First thing that should of happened is the father should of been nicked for gross negligence.
Yeah i’m sure he is devistated that his daughter is dead, but no matter how sorry he is, it aint gonna bring her back.
Punish the idiot who owns the gun, not the entire shooting community.
But as i say, banning is an easy vote winner. 😥
❓
you have to buy airguns from an FFL in NJ, not sure if a permit to purchase and firearms ID is also required, but wouldn’t be surprised if they are also required for airguns in NJ
I would have to say it is a very sad story, on the other hand, what a fuckin idiot !
It’s people like that, that make our life more regulated.
What we can and cannot do.
Come on people, that pellet gun did not do any thing wrong, it was the fucking idiot that pulled the trigger, by accident or not.
First thing I learned about firearms is not to point at anything you do not intend to shoot.
It’s assholes like that who are going to strip our rights from the very ground we stand on.
As a tax paying american citizen, I’m disgusted at what is happening in our country.
My venting is done !
Yes, this is not good news for a typical backyard shooting weapon.
You are right ! Today mentality equates to banning or regulation of such issues as the knee jerk reaction – INSTEAD of fining/imprisonment of the idiots directly responsible.

A few more deaths like this and you bet licensing of airguns will be following close behind!!

Well that dovetails nicely with my post about my stupid “worst shot” in the Off Topic forum. 😕
Be careful, people… everyone gets jumpy and cautious when it comes to handling and shooting powder-burners, but sometimes we don’t give our air-rifles all the respect that they’re due.
Not trying to preach, but it’s important to keep our wits about us with these guns…. 😉
That is too bad, and very bad for our sport

pablouk:
Did you ever have a traffic accident?
Did you ever bump into some one on a crowded sidewalk?
Did you ever stumble and fall?
These are all accidents.
Most are preventable. If this guy did not have the education, knowledge, etc. to prevent this accident, then yes, he may be an idiot.
The sad thing is that people are people, and that means that they are fallable and WILL make mistakes.
As airguns become more powerfull and common, you will see more of these accidents. These accidents WILL result in more regulation and I think that is why you are so upset.
The best we can do is to learn from this incident, and practice safe shooting.
This guy clearly violated the #1 shooting safety rule: Never point the gun at anything you dont want to shoot.
Maybe the prosicuter threw the book at the guy to look good to the public, then will back off later when the incident is no longer “front page”
If it was an accident, does he need to go to jail? Is he a threat to the public? At the least he should not be allowed to have a gun.
Then again, maybe he was tired of the “old gal” and had a big insurance policy on her?
