Trying to understand our tanks PSI, help clarify…
So my Condor setup is a stock .22 with Hi-Flo tank and 18″ barrel. My goal is to shoot CP’s 14.3 grs at no more than 800fps for field target compitition. I’m achieving this right now with 2000psi, PW at 3/3 and the tophat at 0.040″.
I think the TH is set to low and may be hitting the brass valve so I want to increace the TH measurement.
So my question is regardless of how I adjust my settings to achieve 800fps with CP’s, does the amount of PSI in the tank not only determine the velocity but also the shot count as well.
So for example: 2000psi, PW 3/3 and TH 0.040″ gives 20 shots of consistant 800 fps.
But if I fill to 1600psi, PW 3/3 and TH 0.060″ @800fps… will I still get about 20 consistant shot or will it be less hot count because of the lower psi fill?

So tried… been tinkering for the last 4 hours and 140 rounds and…
This is what I settled on:

PW: 1/5
Low: 755fps
Hi: 807fps
Avg: 777fps
ES: 52fps
SD: 16ps

It takes 34 full pumps from 900psi to 1100psi. Any more pumps and my first 3-4 shots are above 800 fps.
What’s interesting with my numbers is that after every 4 shots the fps drops by 10fps.
Having done all that tinkering I finally tested for accuracy at 25 yards with bipod and prone… groups where crap. 😡
I am getting 5 shot clover leaf at 25 yards with the Co2 tank @ 650fps with the CP’s. Looks like I may just use the Co2 tank after all for this upcoming field target match.

Thanks for the advice… going to continue tinkering with my Condor first and if all goes well and I actually DO enter the realm of field target and get serious then I may just pick up a S410 but till then the Condor is my one and only.

Here is the way I see it
Ya have a high flow tank, ya can’t duial it down to what ya want
Don’t re-invent the wheel
either get a talon or spend money and convert over to a ft gun.
My bet is you would be much better off just starting out with another gun.
This way you are set up, have power/ nother talon for dialing in to your needs.
Or call mach-1 and order a lst or whatever they are called, $1250 or more and go that route

3k 2k 1k psi –yeah there are tons of shots in these tanks -from 3k psi–maybe not all in your favorite or most accurate velocity range but if i am understanding correctly you, wanna stay in the high 780s-790s -low 800s -not too sure that gonna be all that consistent for you. My thought would be to install the 24″ barrel (if you have it)-think the longer pipe would soothe that irratable valve you will have at that low of a fill pressure– noticed velocity spreads come way down with longer barrels installed especially when shot with lower fill pressures – in .177 and .20cal- longer pipe added more depth and less variability to the shot count at a given pw setting. think you mentioned something else- about shot count… nope the bottles volume is constant –filling the bottle to 1000psi from empty would theoretically contain the same number of shots as a bottle you shot all the way down from a 3000psi fill -stopped at exactly 1000psi and resumed shooting the next day and started counting the shots from that left over 1000psi … the amout of air in the tank was the same when you started because the tank size was constant and pressures were the same.
Also I am a big fan of .177 an .20 cal —– 😈 .20 cal 18″ SS from 2900 psi standard tank -factory tophat setting —-pw @6— 😈 14.3 premiers .20s start out around 750 and make a nice steady climb to around the 850s or so and hangs between 850 and 890 for over 35 shots. –with .177 18″ you can shoot 10.6 kodiaks for what seems like all day thru your chronograph then check your bottle pressure and see that you still have 2200psi in the tank at shot 50 and 85% of those shots registered faster than 800fps. sweet.

That way you have knock downpower with the condor and a FT gun to dial in for your needs 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
Ya can get a SS with the 12″, or a Talon with the 18″ ready to go 8)
The reason saying going for a talon is it comes with a 18″ installed the ss comes with a 12″
The ss has a slightly longer frame/shroud/ not much.
To sum it up, don’t waste your time modding the condor, just p/u a tolon and make that your experimental FT gun, in the long run, better

here is what you do, get your self a 12 inch barrel and a talon tank, also remove the extra weight, then switch back to the stock setup for hunting 😉
