Trying to understand our tanks PSI, help clarify…

So my Condor setup is a stock .22 with Hi-Flo tank and 18″ barrel. My goal is to shoot CP’s 14.3 grs at no more than 800fps for field target compitition. I’m achieving this right now with 2000psi, PW at 3/3 and the tophat at 0.040″.

I think the TH is set to low and may be hitting the brass valve so I want to increace the TH measurement.

So my question is regardless of how I adjust my settings to achieve 800fps with CP’s, does the amount of PSI in the tank not only determine the velocity but also the shot count as well.

So for example: 2000psi, PW 3/3 and TH 0.040″ gives 20 shots of consistant 800 fps.

But if I fill to 1600psi, PW 3/3 and TH 0.060″ @800fps… will I still get about 20 consistant shot or will it be less hot count because of the lower psi fill?

Thanks for all the advice. I want to work with what I have and buy or trade nothing. This 800 fps with CP 14.3gr pellets is just temperary for a up coming field target match that I’m interested in participating in. If all fails on my goal I can simply switch to co2 which I know gives my consistant 650fps with CP’s.

My main question which I don’t think I explained well enough is… the 101 of PSI… the difference between 3000psi to 2000psi to 1000psi. Will I get the same shot count but less velocity regardless of my starting psi. BUT I did find alot of info from Melloroadman on a different site with lots of samples of his shot strings at different psi, even down to 800psi.

i do not know if this will help but i have a rubber washer behind my tophat and ajusted it with a crony, and i kept the stock springs and weight and adjusted my condor .22 to shot very consistant 800ish at 2500 psi but the valve just is not made for it. i do get a lot of shots like 40 befor poi changes even a little. let us know how you do with field target with this rifle, i know it is not the best platform, unless there were no power limitations.

i have always found it funny that i bought this gun because i want a lot of power yet i found myself detuning it??????

Would you be interested in trading for a Talon tank?
I have a 25cal barrel on the way and need a Condor tank/valve, but out of work.
You could get the 800fps with lots of shots and I could get the additional air needed to push the 25 pellets.

or even a reg talon tank would suffice, I know one thing my talon at 800fps get one hell of alot of shots.
Its all a balancing act, many factors involved, for one I don’t think a high flo vale is what ya want, however SAW can be wrong every once in a while.

typically you want to use .177 cal for FT use due to it’s flatter trajectory. I would guess the micro meter tank and a 12″ .177 cal barrel would be the ticket…

Dude, with that rig you gonna struggle to keep ’em 800fps AND raise the tp.

I suspect the only reason you keeping them that slow is BECAUSE the tp is hitting the valve and keeping the airflow down…. 😆

If you raise the tp to stop it hitting the valve, the fps is gonna go way up…..

Lower pw and lighter hammer maybe??
