Tube

I was asked to make a custom tube n valve for a chap recently.

I’ll make an adjustable but plate/cheek piece to finish it off.

that is what I bin trying to say. To me it is the same as the cockamamie story about ‘droop’ salesman explanation that became legend.

Now someone needs to make a aluminium or polymer M4 type forestock that attaches to the top &/or bottom rails of the frame. Add a new trigger guard & you have 1 bad ass looking Condor/Talon.

You are correct I am confusing the tubes.

You were one of two that told Blod the supposed reason for the orings on the outboard end and the pics you show of the FX tube and fittings are sealed that way. The FX tube has the 300 BAR test value on it and yet is sealed on teh end to blow out on overfilling?
I say the better engineering would seperate functions and as a result gives a better reservoir and reduces stress on the tube ends as well as the threads due to the reduction of effective area.
If overpressure protection was the bees knees then a rupture disc that controlled the failure to the venting off of the excess pressure and preserve the integrity of the tube.
So in the end whoever came up with the story about the mushroomed tube being a safety feature is full of it.

Voltar, you seem to be confusing the tube that I used with the one that Blodnob is using, but I only posted the photo of my tube to give an idea how it looked fitted to a stealth frame. My tube and Blodnobs tube are made of completly different materials and from completly different manufacturers. The tube Blodnob has used is manufactured to yield, if filled above the reccomended pressure, so as long as you follow the manufacturers filling instructions , these tubes are perfectly safe.

Blod, that sounds to me that you do not understand or use hydrotesting in your manufacture or line of work.

Hydrotest of any vessel will leave the unit under test in fine shape to be used for service.
A tube with a mushroomed end will not pass muster and is fit for junk and not ‘passed’ .

So the oring inboard are still the way to go.

Think its supposed to fail in the area of the O ring only as the wall thikness is redudced significantly in that area only.
That is where the mushrooming occures.
The general body ofthe tube will not fail at 300bar.

Am I having trouble communicating the connection between the test pressure and the impossibility of the claim that the tube will flare when overpressured?
Then overpressred with what? if the test pressure is 300 BAR and the pressure source is 300 BAR then where can a destructive over pressure come from?

He should know this to be true of any pressure vessel.
If a container cannot be hydrotested without failure it is junk.

BTW thinking and knowing is done with ones mind. Feel has nothing to do with those functions.
