I was asked to make a custom tube n valve for a chap recently.



I’ll make an adjustable but plate/cheek piece to finish it off.

I think you have your numbers wrong. These tubes are designed to be filled to 200 bar [2900 PSI] not 300 bar [4351 PSI] as you seem to think. If you filled the air tube to 300 bar [4351 PSI] you would be over filling the tube by approx. 1451 PSI. If you look on Air Arms web site and read the owners manuals on S400/S410 you would get all the infomation on the filling of these tubes.

Somehow this is an example of how someone chose to build it and then the reasons why had to be invented.
Same kinda thing as when fellows go to lengths to defend ‘droop’
I have seen Air Arms air rifles with the air tubes mushroomed at the ends where the o-rings are. putting the o-rings in this position may seem strange to some people but if you put the o-ring inside the tube there will be no signs that the tube has been over filled and possibly weakened. Also if someone decided to unscrew the plugs whilst pressurized the air would begin to leak out after about one turn of the plug. The escaping air would probably make most people think about stopping and releasing the air some other way.
Well anytime you get two guys to agree then it must be true.
What is the wall and od of tube? and what is the full wall of tube?

Thats what i said.
But the guy at the shop (Guns International) explaind that the reduced wall at the ends is a safty doo daa that allows the ends to splay when over filled rather than a blow out.
The bore ov the tube is easily good enough to accept and hold an O ring seal.
Ive had this very same argument with Baz. But statistcaly speaking it’s two to one (Baz n shop owner)In favour ov the O ring on the tube ends.
It woudn’t hurt to have a seal on each ends ov the plugs.
I would recommend teh oring seal be located inside the tube rather than at the reduced thickness of the outer ends.
Effectively you have reduced teh pressure capabity to that of the thinnest wall. As well as increased teh effective area hence increased thrust load.

I think it’s an Air Arms carbine tube.
I asked the lady at the shop for a short air tube and this is what she gave me.And only £26 new 😀
I’m gonna start making a clamp and butt piece for it in an hour or so.

That setup looks really good, here are the dimensions for the m4 stocks tube if you decide to use that style stock 29.65mm 1.1675in.
What are the dimensions of the tube you used?
Be pretty cool if you could adapt a CAR-15 buttstock on it.

I think it is you fellas that have it wrong.
if the tube is tested to 300 BAR then an overfill to 300 BAR will not ‘fail’ the tube. If the common fill system is 4500psi the chance of failing a tube to splay the tube is just so much bullshiyte.
So I remain convinced it is poor engineering and someone sold the customer a bill of goods…. more shyte.
