Valve Problems!
My tuned Condor won’t work properly with a 2800 psi fill. It is 6 to 8 inches low at 50 yards on 2800 psi. It refuses to start shooting hard until it’s down at 2300-2400. Is this normal?

No, that guy is a know it all prick. I’m just a helpful guy hanging out here with all the other gnomes!
OK, I might be able to help a guy get a .25 heavy slug fix but I’m no pusher man!
right on 🙂
Ive been lurking on the Yellow and here for a while now.
Ive got a Marauder off being “Greg Davis-ed” but I’m always scanning the classifieds for sweet deals.
i had a feeling this was going to go too fast to do any real research, so i jumped on it (yellow classifieds post) and did a lil’ searching today.

Joey,
There probably was no problem! These guns can be tuned to run most efficiently at many different pressures. The spring pre-load combined with hammer weight, combined with valve head area, combined with pellet weight/resistance to initial movement can create a huge number of combinations that work really well.
Don’t buy into the idea that raising pressure should always raise output energy or increase useable shot count.
That said, the folks here can guide you to setting up the gun as you want it. You can go for huge energy with a few consistent shots or you can go with a lot of consistent shots at low power but you can’t do both without changing settings. Yeah, you can get a medium number of shots with a medium pellet and medium power but isn’t that lame?
yes.. please do tell, was that the problem?
(seeing as i just bought the gun)
in all seriousness, i know your back surgery is Wed, and if it weren’t for that, you would not have sold it and i wouldn’t have (be getting) it.
GOOD LUCK!!!
What was the problem Jamie?
OH. I said problem.
Sorry! We could all use a problem like that! 😉

X2
I fill mine to 2500psi and shoot down to 1900-2000psi all at full power. This is why I get 89 refills from my scuba.. 😉 😀
About the only problem with getting full power starting at 2300-2500 is that your fill tank is going to last a heck of a lot longer between trips to the dive shop for fills!

No problem… Have fun
I will try it tomorrow and let you know what happens. Thanks for the advice.
It was set on 3-16. As soon as it reached 2300 it started working fine.
I would think that turning your PW up to say 6 or 8 would solve the power issue….Fill to 2,800 with the PW on 3-16 and shoot 10 shots at your target. Then refill to 2,800psi and turn PW up to 8 and shoot 10 shots at the same Aim point …I think you will see a significant difference in the Point Of Impact….
Absolutely possible Walter….When mine backed off it would start shooting pellets half way to the target for a few shots then it would be ok for a few more then back to bearly getting them out of the barrel……Just really eractic….Could also be a loose tophat. Or maybe just too much psi fill for the PW setting…It may have been set up for low psi fills….

🙂 that ain’t a tune Jamie! 🙂
have had that happen to several valves….I took the valve off of the
bottle and wrapped the threads with about 20 rounds of teflon tape then
screwed it back in about 3/4-7/8 of the way back in….Worked better than
when it was new…
Could be as simple as a breech oring too…
Mam, would a backed off retainer make high pressure fills lose power?
wonder if something is hanging up the hammer?
Take care
Walter…
