Q:

Valve Problems!

My tuned Condor won’t work properly with a 2800 psi fill. It is 6 to 8 inches low at 50 yards on 2800 psi. It refuses to start shooting hard until it’s down at 2300-2400. Is this normal?

What is your power wheel set on jamie?

quote mamcrackin:

Sounds a lot like the valve spring retainer nut has backed itself off…I
have had that happen to several valves….I took the valve off of the
bottle and wrapped the threads with about 20 rounds of teflon tape then
screwed it back in about 3/4-7/8 of the way back in….Worked better than
when it was new…
Could be as simple as a breech oring too…

I will keep tinkering with it. If it gets where it is losing power I will send it to Ant. I am very pleased with power and accuracy. I did shoot a bad bird off the big oak tree by my house before I left today. The Yardage Pro said it was 79 yards to the top of that tree from where I was standing. It yelled and the fell. When it hit the ground my German Shepherd took care of the rest.

There is no problem at 2300. I put a HP and turned it up. It sounded like a 22 magnum going off. I did notice something as I was shooting the pointed Beeman Silver Stings yesterday. I turned the power wheel all the way up and lost no accuracy. It would not break the crack the SB and it did not rome around the target. 10 shots at 60 yards made a nickle size hole in the target. I love the gun but just wondered what was up with the PSI?

Oh great, 3 days and you broke it. 😛

Just kidding. Some valves do this, and they can get the same number of shots and the same power as a gun tuned for 3000psi. So it’s not always bad. Do you have a chronograph? You can check shot count and power with that.

On another note, some people hate the 2×00 start pressure. Even though it works fine, something about that low pressure just doesn’t seem right, and they will retune the gun to work with a higher pressure. It’s all in preference.
