Valve stem turning….
So I was shooting the condor and noticed that the location of the grubs screws was creeping and thought “oh my blue lock tight came loose” or something. Well it didn’t However I can turn the the stem with my hand. Is this bad? The tank is full??? Thanks!

thanks ss. so i got everything shiny and put back together. lubed up the orings charged to 3000 psi dry fired a few times and off the break i was getting 840 fps with a EJ 43. my th is .070 and power wheel at 6. Before this I was getting that at th .072 and pw 8/14 and psi 2800. So I have improved. i got about 5 good shots then I got tank hiss? Im guessing its like tank dump just not all the air? I think I need to tighten the spring retainer? I can get it to stop hissing by pulling up on the th and stem with a flat head. thanks!
Most of the valve stems that have the seal screwed on are designed that way from the get go…..as far as getting the dimples out you will need to look arround for a drill bit and out it in to the stem then turn it by hand back wards to help ease the dimples back where they belong…it might help to start small and work your way up in drill sizes ….hope this helps…Greg
sweet thanks. the spring retainer was screwed all the way down when I opened her up. also i was checking out peoples valve stems including your post ss and worth taping the end of the stem and permanently attach the valve seal to a screw? seems like the screw would have to be pretty small with a stock valve stem would that be a bit weaker? people seem do be doing it so im guessing no guess. also im not a metal worker so please excuse my ignorance but what would be the best way to level out the dimples from the TH set screws?
when you reinstall the spring retainer screw it in until you feel the spring just start to compress….and yes opening up the side ports will help things out a little…Greg
So got everything apart (Thanks MM for the tool) And well the valve seat looks fine. Maybe just needs a resetting? Fits tight. Not chewed up at all and has a nice fit to the valve and spring. Also was gonna do some valve mods but I have the 2nd gen hiflo and well only thing I can see to do there is polish. I was gonna oval out the stem ports too. Anyone else do that on the hiflo? I’ve seen a few folks here have done it with the talon stems. Also will not tightening down the retainer screw all the way in effect “lighten” the valve spring and in effect require less pw and hammer force. Thanks.
I am thinking of getting a valve removal tool to see the extent of the damage to the valve seal/seat/head(what’s the proper term) if not too fubared is this something that can be repaired or will I most likely need a new one?
Like I said I got lucky…..when the stem popped out the pressure tried to push the valve seal out of the tank but without the stem it got sideways and just bled the tank down relatively slow but still A LOT faster than I would have liked it to….all this happened in about 45-60sec …then I had to wipe my ass and have a beer…..

It really wasn’t bad, mostly me freeking out…I took the tank off the pump and was grabbing for the gun when I heard a pop followed by the sound of the stem falling in the floor and a lore hiss from the tank….then I put 2 and 2 together and came up with OH SHIT……….
nah it was more of …”OH Shit…OH SHIT….OH SHIT”….. 😳
Oh DAMN! Yeah I have never taken the valve out so I wasn’t sure. I have only turned down the TH. Hopefully it won’t blow me up!

I would try a little more tension on the spring retainer also put some Teflon tape on the threads to help keep the retainer from backing out on you……Greg
