So keyser will I be able to focus at 15 – 20 yards with a swfa 16x
My maximum is 20x but maybe keyser has right the 16x is enough. What I know is absolutely counterproductive have bigger magnification than 20x 😉 scope is big, heavy etc… If you have possibility take SWFA!!!
It’s a big decision. It can make or break your airgun experience. I am not bothered at all by your waffling. The advice I am giving is based on a lot of wasted money on scopes. The money I wasted was always on cheap scopes. I never bought a nice scope and said to myself “man I wish I would have gotten that” Primary arms” scope for $150. Airgunners are an interesting lot to me. I go on Sniper’s Hide a lot. I never see members there recommending Chinese scopes for long range shooting. I see airgunners spend 2K on a BB gun and then they put a $60 scope on top. Honestly you don’t need more than 16X for any application on an airgun. I have a suspicion that most airgun shooters on various forums do not spin their turret. They use reticle holdover and so they don’t know how the turrets track.
If you buy nice glass it will stay with you forever. Airguns come and go. We fall in and out of love with them all the time. A nice scope will always be able to find a home on your new PCP
A good FFP is not over rated.
And is ffp over rated I’m just having a hard time getting my head wrapped around a fixed scope it seems to limit me I know all my army brothers say fixed but that’s not a pellet gun shooting from 10-150 yards this shit is harder picking than picking the gun lol lol and not knowing sucks I read and read some say the falcon menace is a really nice scope some say no some say primary arms 4-14 ffp good scope some say no and what about the new hawke scope is hawke any good so far the swfa 16x is but at say 20-50 yards . I don’t have the luxury of shooting other peoples guns because I don’t know anybody that has PCPs I like the rectals of the SWFA s . I trust what you are saying out of all of the forums I have read I have read your post over and over because they look like they made sense to me I just want to not get stuck with only shooting hunting and not targets even though my targets are shotgun shells at 100-+ yards i’m sorry I’m usually not this fickle about things lol
Shot gun shells @ 100? Min 20x scope

u make great points 16x SWFA SS is what i’m leaning at so if i’m making a 20-30yrd shot am i gonna be able to adjust focus “rear focus is same as side focus”yes? i see that the 10x also has a side focus on them but not offered in 16x any reason for that or is the rear able to focus to 10yrd also
and i saw video of u shooting shotgun shells i think that was u i want to do that for fun stuff also being this is my only gun it is my fun and hunting gun so i was trying to get best of both worlds target shooting and hunting … i love when people think o he just has a “hunting gun” and u out shoot there target gun just make me smile …. i do think this vulcan can shoot with the best of them …. thanks for your help
Here is the honest truth. Variable powered second focal scopes are not useful for hunting. In all honesty the Aeon mil-dots are true at 10X. That means the 40X will be useless. For hunting 16X is all you need. I mean really you set a limit of 100 yards. You’re not marking bullet contrail for in order to dope windage for 1000 yard shooting. Trust me get either the 12X42 SWFA SS or the 16X42 SS with the mil-quad reticle.

@ what magnification?

It’s an easy pick. Do not buy that BSA scope. The turrets do not track nor do they return to zero. The BSA glass is garbage. The Vulcan I reviewed is owned by my hunting partner. If you notice it has a BSA shit FFP scope on top. I actually couldn’t make those shots with his gun. I was about to give up on the review until I decided to throw a slave SWFA 16x scope I have pre-mounted on an American Defense 20 MOA unimount. The gun performed like it should. Shooting shotgun shells at 150 yards is no easy task. 150 yards with a .25 pellet is 8.25 Mrad. That is 45 inches of drop. If you want to make long range shots on game you must be able to trust that the scope will track to it’s assigned value. Putting a cheap scope on a 1600+ gun is like putting re-treads on a Porsche.
Truth be told if you were willing to buy the 5-20 SWFA then you should really look at the Steiner T5Xi3-15X50. Here is another piece of advice for you, 16X is really the practical magnification limit for a FFP scope. The reticle past 16X grows to large, you lose holdover and the reticle is too thick. If you are shooting anywhere in the desert or in the summer the mirage is brutal past 16X.
i now its china but midways BSA 4-14 FFP tactical mil-mil might be the one i get but i do like the 16x SWFA this is harder than picking the pcp i wanted LOL
ok your right the 16x swfa looks nice dam if i only had money the ffp 5-20 swfa looks nicer ,
FUCK YEH :8: :8: :8: :8:

No it’s a terrible choice The scope is too big and ALL Chinese scope suck. They are heavy, they don’t track well and they always have mushy turrets. If you have 300 bucks then you’re in luck. Get the SWFA SS fixed power scope.
