vulcan bipod installed
hey guys so i had a harris bipod sitting around for “Years” and was considering buying a atlas but knowing that the harris was a very good bipod just couldn’t see spending another 300.00 for a atlas “maybe in time” … i decided to put a rail under the vulcan that way if or when i wanted a flash light or laser or a deferent bipod or a bayonet LOL i could do so “so now long or short” i went with long why limit myself .. and the way i shoot off hand “standing” my left hand is by the trigger anyways “more of a target rifle team stance elbow tucked by the belt …as a point of contact etc…. so now the fun part… I took the stock off found my centerline taped it marked it ……

then i drilled a small pilot hole rechecked everything then drilled the hole the right size for the new bolts

now for the underside i bought a larger washer and locknuts the larger washers because my gunsmithing buddy said the washers would make sure its as strong as possible i think the locknuts where ok but i should of went reg. nuts and locktite .. the countersunk hole was a little deeper than i wanted but theres plenty of wood to deal with “nice thick stock” and the washers would give it the support it needed … i have a mill in my knife shop.. made the job easy

then installed the rail

I had a american defense quick release on the bipod so it went on nice also it can be used for a sling when the bipod isn’t being used …

NEXT i’m going to put a small rail in the rear to hold my one pice sling ….it will also hold my fastfire lll if i don’t want it mounted on my scope rail which i don’t see but it could .. then i’m going to machine a bracket to go on a quick release to hold my three extra mags. but for now i need to find a drill to get in that small of a spot “small 90 deg .angle drill” i’ll use wood screws for this spot…..

my atlas bt10-lw17 swivels and has a 15derg cant left or right “tilts the gun” so much i can see my fastfire which is on a 45 derg mount without moving my head much the swivel is hard but they say it will get better after its used some and like the pics 45derg forward 90 or 45 derg back ..it even fits in the vulcan gun hard case without taking it off with one leg forward and one leg back…. also now that the legs fold back when shooting in standing it is a real nice hand holding spot about 1-2in lower than the stock i like it.. it makes when i tuck my elbow at my belt for stabling my shot easier for me at least ….and now with the legs going forward or back if i’m at a shooting table thats to tall like sundays at the indoor range i can lower the gun to fit.. with the harris i was shooting in a bad shooting position the gun was just to high for me kinda sucked …..also my scope was alined to the gun but not to the harris bipod so it was off angle a very little but off with the atlas i can cant it to fix that ….. all in all i like the way the harris legs snap back into closed position when extended longer but thats the only thing the harris has over the atlas …. to me….
