Vulcan Gen 4
With the new side lever the vulcan in 0.25 is looking interesting!
My question is has the hammer slap issue from earlier models been sorted?
Is the 0.25 backyard friendly without additional moderators?

When I ordered my Vulcan fron Tony, I had him put the adapter on the Shroud. I had a Donnyfl LDC I go for my crickets… Put it on the Vulcan and it makes two discernable sounds… the hammer slaps the firing valve stem and that pellet smacks whatever I’m shootin’ at. That JSB 25.4 gr. Heavy makes a heck of a rackit smackin’ a coon up side the head! The gun is back yard friendly, but those pellets sure ain’t! :suprisedn:
so they are never silent.
:hoot:
My Vulcan has no perceivable blow-back…felt or heard.
“Silent” is a matter of perspective. The only true silence is in the vacuum of space. At my house, “silence” is when my neighbor can’t hear my pcp discharge. I daresay my neighbor couldn’t hear my Vulcan discharge from as close as ten feet. To me…that is truly silent for a .25 airgun.
Your mileage may differ…

all Vulcans have blowback around the valve stem. it is like air bearing.

I’ve got a Donnyfl 7″ ldc on my .25 and there’s no sound at all to be noticed. The “Ping” is long gone, and the only real noise is the .25 pellet slamming into whatever you shoot.
I have experience with both the .22 Colibri and Leyla, and I can truthfully say my Vulcan .25 is as quiet as either of those guns…and that’s not an easy feat to accomplish with a high power .25 pcp.
You have to not hear it to believe how quiet it is.
Fat’s…on a cold day, with a steady hold, you could shoot the nipple off your neighbor’s left tit, and she would swear to the police it had to have exploded due to internal combustion!!!…THAT’S how quiet this gun is, as it is set up now. By damn…THAT’S quiet!!!
Respectfully,

Shooting a full power 25 cal pcp will make some noise no matter what you do. Full power 22 will also be noisy though not as much. If you want the quietest switch to fishing 😛
Guns are usually louder for the shooter. At the target it is the pellet hitting the target that makes the most noise. I hunt pigeons and doves with my 25 Vulcan at 50 to 100 yards. when I miss they don’t fly away. They only fly when I hit one.
Because it doesn’t work.

I however am not interested in a .22 but a .25
Quietness.
Very subjective question. At about a metre from the muzzle all my airguns around 100db.
To my ears no noisier than my cricket, airwolf, rapid . BUT hitting a rabbit skull with my V gun in .25 is another matter. Think it louder than my subsonic rimfire. The quietest gun by a mile though is my FX Monsoon.
Because it doesn’t work.
Safe shooting
lol, sorry about your monsoon.
Thanks for your input, I will be getting a .22 Vulcan or a .22 Mutant short this upcoming spring/summer.
Now leaning towards a Vulcan just a little more. 😛
Oops.
Got carried away.
Re shot count
I concur with Saltwaterslick – 5 mags same figures, ie 45 shots.
Safe shooting
Hi
”
So does the gen 4 Vulcan still have a loud hammer slap ping? I thought they added a depinger since gen 3. ”
No hammer slap ping!

Is that with 25gr? Do you know shot count from 220 bar with that?
I fill to 230 bar and shoot down to 140 or so and get at least 5 magazines per charge (11/mag). I pretty much shoot JSB King 25.4 gr. My Vulcan also shoots polymags pretty well and about the same POI as the JSB’s. Just haven’t found a good reason to shoot ’em… The JSB’s pretty do everything I want ’em to do.

Man, that sounds Good!

Sparrows/starlings in my back yard HATE that Vulcan… 55 yards to the Martin Houses, and it’s a chip shot for that Vulcan… That is Specifically what I got it for, but it sure makes a great truck gun when I’m out riding around on my hunting property for shooting turtles, snakes, even a few squirrels… It’s shorter than the Cricket .25…
Yessir. Very quiet over open air. I have zero experience with Mutant, but comparing to a Cricket .25, I think it is maybe quieter than the Cricket standard. My Vulcan doesn’t shoot as hot as the Cricket so that may help also… I’m at 890-900 on the Vulcan and around 930-950 on the Cricket.

That has been my experience. If my head wasn’t right on the valve/hammer interface, I doubt it would be audible beyond a few yards, if that.
It’s not the gun that makes the noise. It’s the impact of that lead on whatever it hits.
