Q:

Waiting for his next meal – Excellent Hawk pics

This redtail hawk takes whatever I knock down. I no longer have to worry about something ending up in a neighbors yard. He removes it fairly quickly.

Funny though, he/she is very cautious and will sit on a branch and stare at the prey for a good 15-20 minutes before going down to the ground and picking it up.

Took the picture through my binoculars. (it wasn’t easy)

Love them hawks but…

because of them I haven’t seen a squirrel in my yard for about 2 month now!

No reactive targets for me.

You have hawks….

😈

Hawks are too large to make finger puppets out of them.

That is a very good looking bird, it doesn’t look like he’s missed a meal. I have two falcons that visit regularly, perhaps I will have some help disposing of the tree rat that’s eating my house, I just need a shroud for my Disco so that the neighboors won’t call the police.

Hi gfaust8, I am going to make a comment but pls. don’t take it the wrong way. Beware of lead poisoning of such a magnificent bird. I don’t know where you can buy non-lead pellets but even if they cost a bit more, it’s worth considering until that bird moved out of your back yard.

Thx for sharing the pics.

Very good concern, I have not thought about that…, just in case we ever get one here:)

Or….

Use lead pellets and hope it dies in your yard so you can get it mounted. 🙂

Am I a twisted person? 😈

I could look at those pics all day…, I am jealous, beautiful bird:)

Here is a shot of a young coopers hawk I took a while back

thats a lovely bird mate i often see buzzard were i live and keep trying to get some nice pics but bird being birds as soon as u pic your hands up there off

Beautifull bird!, we got some “helpers” over here ourselves, the place we do most of our hunting / shooting is crowded by vultures (im not shure thats their correct name in english, there like condors, but smaller), every time we get there we can see them flying high above our heads, and some standing in tall trees, waiting for their “meal”.
There are also several cats lurking arround, they know that when we get there, “its dinner time”
We are only too glad to feed our huge, ugly, red headed “buddies” and our feline pals with a fresh supply of pest birds like grackles and pidgeons. 😈

Make a good hat.
