Q:

Well I did it…..Shot my Chrony…Twice

Checking some psi, fps and shot my chrony twice in a row….The first shot sounded funny but I blew it off…Second shot sounded funny and I noticed the light shining differently off of the front of the chrony….It still works but the screen is bleeding a little. I was told to be careful…Guess I wasn’t careful enough….Don’t laugh too soon…..I thought it was impossible….It’s not…

I shot mine once so far, just missed the back sensor.

Only two types of shooters. Those that have shot their chronograph, and those that are going to. If you haven’t yet, you sooner or later will; sooner or later, EVERYTHING that goes down range gets shot.

Nice setup sawtime. I’ll use some of those ideas to get something setup…If I don’t do something soon I know I will end up shooting the dang thing again……….
You know ribbonstone, I was so aware and still I clipped the thing twice..I was more focused on the results than what I was doing….Trying to do too much stuff too fast……I was just fortunate that I didn’t shoot the screen….

think the AirForce rifles make it easier to shoot a chronograph…we forget just how high that scope is mounted, and at the near muzzle distance we chronograph at, it’s easy to forget how low that pellet really is in relation to the scope.

Mamcrackin-
check this out for the next crony you get.
This is a pic from my garage range, if you look close in the middle on the shelf is a piece of 3/16 bronze channel, doesen’t need to be bronze I got it at the job.
My point is put a safety device in front of your crony and break-down and get a printer for it.
They come with like a 16′ cord and do all the printing averages and all that shit right in front of ya
My particular set-up I lined up the crony and screwed the lights and diffusers above, the crony is marked on the shelf so I can put her right under the lights i n the correct position every time I want to use it.

I have hit that bronze before sighting in a new scope or messing around with barrels or what not, it saved the crony and put some serious dents in that bronze.

Don’t know how true it is, but I’ve heard you can send it back to Chrony and they will actually give you a really decent trade in price for a replacement unit.

I screwed mine up buy shooting the wire with a .308 that I managed to re solder and then I completly fried the chip when I tried to connect it to a DC adapter so I wouldn’t have to buy a 9v battery so I sent it in for an “upgrade” from beta to gamma.. They fixed everything and upgraded it for the upgrade price of $35…. Cant say fairer than that !

Geez…That is really surprising….I am definately going to look into sending it in….I hope they have a good Bondo guy……

The Chrony line is built tough. I shot mine more than a couple of times and its been working the same way since I first got it. I’m thinking, though, that once my unit’s LCD screen takes a direct hit from an incoming pellet from my Condor it’s gonna be over. 😆

I think you’re right..A direct hit might go through both sensors and the plate in the middle….I should have figured out some way of protecting it but I was sure that it would be impossible to shoot it unless I did something really stupid….Live and learn….lol

I might try that triggerman…If I could just change the screen and add a piece of 1/2″ plexiglass I would be set.
Thanks for the heads up

Same Chrony I just got except mine hasn’t been shot, yet.

Reasonable grouping, however! ;>)

I was quite proud of that group…Not sure where the schrapnal went Though…..
Did you know you can get a remote that plugs into the side that gives you the ability to record High, Low, Avg fps, Deviations and each individual shot fps up to 32 shots? You can then review the data with a push of the button and scroll through all of the info…..Really handy….
