Q:

What could cause this ?

Out of the box my cricket was running at a steady 887fps ish
220 fill for 69 shots
Coming off the reg at about 110 bar

A year later it’s running at around 870 fps
220 fill for 59 shots
Coming off the reg at 110 bar

Is this just it bedding in ?
What should I adjust if anything..

Thanks for your replys.

Assuming you already checked the above, maybe your valve spring retainer is working its way loose ?

Update..

For the last few days iv been running some shot strings..

Lows of 866
A spread of 17 fps
Coming off reg at approx 105 bar.
For 48 shots

Next
Filling to 210
High of 884
Lows of 877
A spread of 7 fps
Coming off reg at approx 105 bar
For 42 shots

I done 2 more strings. One last night and one today they where practically
The same and at the speed I want but shot count is still low ..

210 fill
High of 889
Lows of 882
Spread of 7 fps
Off reg at 105

Advice needed please as to why the erratic strings and shot count getting lower and lower..

Naaa- it was looking good and getting warmer a week ago but now it’s cold again. This global warming -thing doesn’t seem to have an effect on things…

like Sir Ville said, it only meant to bleed the air out, SLOWLY!!..

have you seen a car tire pops? that thing only has like 30ish psi usually. which equals to slightly over 2 bars. your air cylinder can hold 2 300 bars. if u fucked up with this, well don’t worry u wont feel a thing

tips- take a look at one of Earnest’s video on bleeding out the cylinder. this is one job you should not rush

i think we should make a WARNING STICKY for the newbie regarding on air cylinder. some stupid asking me about replacing it with nitrogen yesterday. i should have agreed. they might have learned physex instead in school

Del grabbed a bag of five.

That leaves one bag of five, two for me…let’s see….subtract the smaller number…..carry the one….divide by “2”, and I come up with three screws up for grabs!

If anyone needs “screwed”…let me know before the prices go up over the weekend!

Well Larry – i will. Just to please you and to show how kind and gentle person i really am.

Wait a minute … I have no need for one since i donΒ΄t get rid of screws , how tiny they will ever be , and i use Loctite on the threads to aid the sealing. So i take all my senseless blubber above right back..

Great deal, a buck a screw, haven’t seen prices like that sense the late 60’s. Get some Ville.

Larryw

I ordered two packs of them today, five per pack. I’ll have a few extra. I plan to keep one in stock and one in the gun.

Anyone interested, PM me and I’ll send you two screws for the postage and a buck per screw. I’ll use the USPS Priority padded small envelope. Should cost you less than $5.00 USD, or thereabouts…just guessing. First four to respond get the screws.

Hoot:

They aren’t meant to be removed in/out either. It is a bleed (or drain πŸ˜‰ ) screw so you open it untill you hear hissing and then some. No reason to remove it completely.
Once you’ve bled out all the air you can thru that hole you just tighten it again and push the valve pin to “drain” any remaining air.
OR , for all those Fuxers out there, you simply use Ernest’s “de-gasser/ de-drainer” for the bleed job. No need to ever touch that pesky little screw again.

Yup, don’t ask me how i know…. That little ball bearing falls out and it will be gone in a flash!!

[quote=”Sir Ville”]WTF – who’s that Bastard who dares to attack our one-legged Uncle in his time of need and desperation ? Shame on you!
” Draining” of airtubes of any kind is risky business indeed. There’s a BLEED screw though to aid in that procedure. Once “drained” with that you just push the valve pin and the drainage is then complete. Nothing more to drain.

Right!!! What HE said! That bleed screw is TINY so be careful to back it out only a few turns, and let the air hiss out slowly. It strips threads in a heartbeat and there is a super tiny ball bearing in there too. If they blow out, you are screwed because you won’t find them!

[quote=”Sir Ville”]If the gun is made after July 2013 it has a metal valve rod. Either check the certificate delivered with your gun or if you for some reason don’t have that then check thru the serial number.
Or just open it up..

Pure genius~ But how would the serial number tell me?

The only tools I have readily available are a Dremel tool with cutoff wheels, and a pipe wrench that’s rusted shut. Any advice would be greatly welcome.

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle Hoot:

PS: Just remembered I have a Phillips head screwdriver I found on the road, but broke it in half while hitting it with the pipe wrench when trying to counter-sink some screws. Strange, because I took “Shop” in high school. It must have been made in China!

PS PS: WOW!!! I just tried to look at the valve directly, but since you can’t see it from the breech, or the muzzle (I tried), I started to take the air cylinder off and it suddenly developed a serious air leak. Being a quick thinker, I managed to get the pipe wrench unfrozen, and forced the air cylinder back up the threads. I wrapped them with Teflon tape first and put JB Weld on top of that, and the hissing finally stopped, but lost all my air. Looks like I’m going to have to refill it now before I try again.

You would think they would put those valves out where you could get to them!

UPDATE: “Drain the air cylinder before I look“??? Your PM had few details. First off, There isn’t any water in my air cylinder, and secondly, don’t they have one of those “desiccant packs” in there to absorb moisture? Fool! Re-read my post! I did’t get wet, I lost all my air!!!!

UPDATE TO UPDATE: Semi-literate Assmunch!!! Same back to you!!! I’ll bet your mother was no saint herself. Further…how was I to know you meant “Air” when you said “Drain”…usually one thinks of water when they drain something! You remind me of my uncle Ed. He worked in a distillery uncorking rejected bottles of whisky. He didn’t have any schooling…and was known about the community as an “Ignorant Cork Sucker”. That’s you…. If you can’t be civil in your PM’s to one-legged elders, then don’t send them. I find myself deeply offended.

ATTN MORONS: The above is meant for entertainment purposes only! Don’t do what I say…
