What do we do to pay the bills?
I drive a mixer truck for a company called Cemex. Also, I occasionally haul a fuel tanker for another company. What do you do?

WOK is a LATHE inspector……

Haha. Yeah – it can be painful! We help both government and private sector clients with their branding needs. With companies gobbling up other companies so fast, they need someone to help everyone play nice and look like one company and speak with one voice.
We also help Army Depots try to figure out who the hell they are and what they’re good at. Then through research and analysis we identify new business opportunities for their BD teams and help them become more productive so they don’t get BRAC’d.
Pretty interesting work.
Dive; Are you the illegitate father of our very own Naked Mole Rat? He’s also known as Lama if you didn’t know. If you are, you should consider a vasectomy. One Lama is quite enough. His perchant for real fur finger puppets is disturbing, entertaining but disturbing.
And just what does a Strategic Communications firm in D.C. do? My last tour of duty was Director of Pacific Fleet Communications. I still believe that starving to death would have been less painful than that job. AKULA
Creative Director for a Strategic Communications firm in Washington D.C. – although I work out of Huntsville, AL.

WOW!! I’ve had some close calls in my career but always came out on top. Some skill and a lot of luck and always knowing when to tell someone to f**k off. If your not happy with the lift or the rigging you don’t make it till they make you happy.

Wow! 32 yard bucket!
Everyone on the site depends on a safe crane operator.
Cool career
I got to help rebuild a crane after it was wrecked.
The boss on the job (an idiot) pointed at soneone and said “your the crane operator”. The guy had no experiance.
The job was to load large rocks, 15 tons, on a barge. The crane was on another barge. He picked up a stone from the shore and was swinging it to the barge, when the crane tipped up on the left track. The crane body then suddenly rotated (downhill) and folded the boom in half. The “operator” fell out of the cab under the falling crane. the only thing that saved him was the folded boom screwered the bottom of the lake, preventing the crane from falling all the way and crushing the operator.

The Biggest crane so far would have to be a 4600 Manitowoc with a 32 yard clam bucket on the docks at the Port of Indiana. I’ve ran 300t Leiberr a 2250 Manitowoc , with 160′ of main and 110′ of luffter. I was told the pick which was taking a down comer off the blast furnace only weighed 60000 but when I came loose I actually had 101000 and was good for 102000, thats cutting it a bit close.lol I’ve ran more than my share of 4100 Series 2 Manitowoc’s.
I know what you mean about getting ahold of stuff that about pulls you in the hole but I’ve been lucky and haven’t wrecked a crane yet, knock on wood.
Industrial maintenance guy, machine repair….. electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics. A bit over 40 years into it now, things have come a long way since vacuum tubes. I hope I’m not too far from retirement if the economy doesn’t sink me.

Dive; Good luck with the Army. I was rudely kidnapped by that group for 18 months for a tour as a ground commander in Iraq. I thought that odd as I’m a Navy pilot and like to walk on water…not sand. I prefer blue sea over brown dirt any day. AKULA
