Cheers Marc, I will start with the supplied ir, and if its not enough I shall invest in extra illumination.
I’m gonna be shooting rabbits out to about 75 yrds, so I’m hoping gen 1 will be up to the job…. 😕
If you can’t afford GENII my advice is wait and safe up intill you do.
Everyone is acustomed to the CNN vids of nightvision. that’s all gen2 and up. In short you’ll be dissapointed with GEN1, or of you must go that route use an awefully large IR illuminator. With gen1 ir illumination is the key.

I can only afford Gen 1 so I’m gonna have to be cafeful about light sources…….
This is mine and it works very good, its a Trident atn 2x, I have been thinking of getting a doubler for it, a 5x lens, it is pretty heavy though and is a gen ll. Light doesn’t do anything but shut it down, bright light that is and I’ve wacked alot of sh– with it.

Come on guys, I don’t care if you never had one, I just want a general opinion….. 😀
I love mine…, EXCEPT for the weight, it is a bit heavy.
I also use a surefire light converted to IR, it looks like daylight with these at night.
Go for it if you “need” a night scope

I doubt it, mine is good foe 100yrds and I need more magnifacation.
