I added a Condor valve and hammer weight to my TalonSS and got the same velocity as a Condor set up… πŸ˜‰

Now boys…settle down. I have a question synopsys. I am very curious to know why some of us carry such long sticks (24″ LW barrels) since one can achieve the same velocity from a 12″ barrel??? I would guess that it is accuracy, but I am not going to apply PB principles to air rifles. So please tell me your thoughts??? Hell, if I could achieve the same velocity from a 12″ barrel as I could from a 24″ barrel…and I could also achieve the same accuracy to boot…my .25 24″ barrel will be up for sale or trade.

You can’t.

Perhaps I should clarify, TalonSS frame.

But I prefaced that post with this post and I was putting forth the example that all the parts are interchangeable and not caliber or rifle specific.

quote synopsys:

I was getting about 1010fps average with a tophat setting at 0.088″ with 30 grain 25cal pellets. Power wheel at 8/1. 24″ barrel.

Note the barrel length… πŸ˜‰

But if the barrels are of equal length the Talon or TalonSS with a Condor valve and hammer weight is no different than a Condor setup… Except the extra frame rail and the shortened frame on the Talon, which obviously has nothing to do with accuracy or power.

Yeah, I kind of figured that all things being equal (in lieu of the frame of course), i.e. hammer weight, top hat setting, valve, pre-load… a barrel double the length will get you more fps. I found the general rule of thumb to be 10 to 15 fps for every inch of barrel. And considering the fact that I like the option of shooting the heavier stuff from time to time I will have to say—concerning my prospective sale of my 24″ .25 LW barrel:

Now you are talking. It’s all about semantics.

Guys i am sure the new at 2005 condor valve was the high flow valve, compared to the talon valve,

but (NOW ) the 2005 condor valve is no longer the high flow valve, it is the original condor valve, which has been improved,,,,,

Which in turn makes the newest Condor valve from Air Force, the new and improved high flow valve.

But Waite, then the r& l valve should be called the super high flow valve. πŸ˜₯ πŸ˜‰

Close PB.

It’s called the R&L Extreme valve…

Which is a only modded/ported Condor valve stem and different spring not an entirely new valve like the Selph or Blod valve. πŸ˜‰

I think GenI HiFlo and GenII HiFlo would be the most appropriate way to label the two HiFlo valves that have been produced by AF.

Or New HiFlo and Old HiFlo valves…

If someone said I have a 2005 HiFlo valve they would not be bending the truth or misleading anyone since it IS a HiFlo valve from 2005 and has been referred to as HiFlo valve since it was originally produced for the Condor…

Longer barrel on a PCP gets more fps. I have a 2 Logun S16-S’s and my brother has 1. When they were brand new mine shot kodiac’s at high 780’s. My brother’s was at around 810 fps. Guns have 14″ barrels. Had Tim at Mac1 make me 2 21″ barrels. Now my mine shoots kodiac’s right around 900fps. JSB’s 18.1 around 960 and the 15.9’s at 1000 fps. Bought my second S16-S 2 months ago and it shoots kodiac’s in the 780’s. I don’t have a short barrel for my Condor, but I don’t think a shorter barrel would get 1050 fps with 43 gr eunjin’s and 880 fps with Jerry’s 7 rings.

Hi 80Grit – I’ll presume that both barrels have the same twist rate and therefore if a pellet exits at the same velocity, it should have the same stability and unbalance factors.
Regarding the pellet, there would be significant difference in the volume / pressure combination to accelerate a smaller (14.3 gr) pellet vs. a larger (43.2) gr pellet.
Bottom-line is that the amount of energy needed to accelerate any given size pellet will have advantages with longer barrels for heavier pellets.
In your case, if there are no ill side effects from the amount of energy you apply to push the given pellet of your choice, then you are correct – sell the longer barrel.

Waste air

you also need a heavier hamer and/or stiffer hamer spring,at te same fill pressure, to open the high flow vale.
this because the seal in the valve has a bigger surface

quote Harry:

The reason it is called hi-flow is to differentiate it from the older “standard” (pre-2008) Condor valves.
quote Harry:

I merely said that we typically call the old valve “standard” or “old style” valve, and the new one “hi-flo” to differentiate the one from the other.

So. If HiFlo is different than standard and the standard was called the HiFlo since it was offered for the Condor then what exactly are you trying to say…?

And who is “we” exactly, the links I posted clearly show others referring to the pre 2008 valve as HiFlo…

Perhaps logic isn’t your thing Harry. πŸ˜‰

Only you on this forum apparently… Have you read any on the links?

Chinese, perhaps that explains why you can’t fucking read… πŸ˜†

Maybe this will clear things up?

The proof is there, you don’t want to accept reality, I get it.

What you don’t get is your trying to tell me and others something that is incorrect… I’m trying to correct you.

I’m not going to bother posting anymore links since obviously your not into reading the proof to understand just where you were misled by AF. You call it what you please, just remember that it’s been referred to as HiFlo valve from the very beginning by lots of people here and in other places…

Oh and the land thing was a JOKE?… πŸ˜•

Boy, tough crowd… πŸ™„

I may not have a life as you say but at least i’m not fucking stupid. πŸ˜†

For a minute there I thought you were Tom Gaylord!

I will buy your property if you buy my bridge πŸ˜›

Again it’s like I am typing Chinese.. you are not getting what I am saying. I guess that’s how you bought that land in Florida thinking you could build on it. I never said the hiflo did not exist pre-08. I merely said that we typically call the old valve “standard” or “old style” valve, and the new one “hi-flo” to differentiate the one from the other. At least many people do, apparently not you. I guess having 4k posts doesn’t mean you understand what others are trying to tell you. It basically means you don’t have much of a life πŸ˜†

😯

Wow really?

The HiFlo valve was updated in 2008. Not replaced since it was called the HiFlo from the start. Which also happens to still be the standard valve that is shipped with the Condor… And thus still the standard Condor valve.

I am truly amazed you refuse to accept an article that clearly states in 2005 the HiFlo valve existed BEFORE 2008…

Hey I know, I got some great land in Florida, the building department said on the phone you can build a house even though it isn’t zoned for it. I’ll give you one hell of a deal…! Those pesky zoning codes don’t mean anything just because they are written down anyways right…? It’s perfect for you and you only!! πŸ˜‰

Oh wait, is your name Tom Gaylord or BB Pelettier by chance…? πŸ˜†

Try this…

I checked with the internet archive….

http://web.archive.org/web/20050206235437/http://airforceairguns.com/condor.html

that page is from feb 2005 and has the “new” valve on it. So obviously that just refers to the high flow compared to talon valve, not high flow compared to revised high flow.

Hi-Flo from the very start…
