whats the best way to drain the tank? (without fill adapter)
im getting ready to swap the stock 13ci bottle for a 22ci bottle on my talonP,
ive been searching on here and cant find the best (safest) way to drain the tank.
( i cant shoot it empty because i live in an apt building, and i do not have the fill adapter as i have the spinlock tank)
is there a way to drain it “semi” quietly??

I don’t know of “ANY” PCP Air Gun regardless of brand that has a blead valve installed from the factory. Dyotat’s procedure is the standard accepted procedure to bleed the AirForce Bottle. Regardless of whether it looks like his or not. 😉

Thanks all!
I ordered the Airforce Refill Adapter with the Quick-Disconnect Nipple. That gives me a tank drain tool and a tank fill tool.
I still want a bleed valve on the gun.

Thank you ssshooter that is just what I was looking for.

You can even use the value protector cap and put some three dimes in there. Plus it doubles as a great protection device for breaking down and transport.

Yeah that is my custom .308 valve I did for a customer. I normally don’t put the gauge and fill nipple on the valve. I put it on the tank adapter.
Just a little different but they are all basically the same.
while my valve looks slightly different than yours i see now that it should be able to work.
the only reason i thought the fill adapter wouldnt work was,
i saw one of pandemics videos where he said you cant use the fill adapter penny method with the spinlock tank.
i have the spinlock tank on my gun,
so i never had to buy or use the adapter,
i fill through the foster on the spinlock collar.
but shooting it down with a pillow over it worked great, silent except for the hammer :8:
Thanks for posting the idea and photos. Looks like it might work but requires removing the tank, which I normally don’t do.
Your tank adapter and fill adapter look different from whats on my Condor and listed as available from AirForce.
I’d still prefer to have a bleed valve on the gun where it would be available any time and anywhere I would need to remove the air pressure. To me, that would be a normal requirement for PCP airguns. Can a pressurized PCP airgun be carried as luggage on a commercial aircraft, train, or bus? My Condor was delivered by UPS with pressure in it?

I use one to drain my tanks when I need to.
i didnt think the fill adapter works with spinlock tanks,
everyone says the foster and gauge is in the way.
Why not just buy the fill adapter from airforce and use it to drain the tank with a penny in it.
I use one to drain my tanks when I need to.
There’s a fourth position on the Spin-Loc tank adapter that’s drilled out but may be normally used. That may not be true because I’ve seen such holes used to remove the tank adapters when the tanks are hydroed. Whatever, that position looks like a candidate for installing a 1/8″ bleed valve.
I’ve already rotated the bottle 45 deg. so that the pressure gauge is pointed up where I am and the fill port quick connect is pointed down toward the floor where the SCUBA tank lives. That just appeared more natural than the AirForce’s horizontal arrangement. That positions that fourth hole above the fill port and available to be tapped for a bleed valve installation.
That brings up another problem. I’ve been looking for a 1/8″ NPT bleed valve for another project. I can’t find one on the Internet. Without a 1/8″ bleed valve, this idea won’t work. Anyone know where we can purchase them?

An 18″ clamp opens the valve without removing the bottle but there’s a quick discharge of air which causes the valve to freeze. That may damage O-Rings??

I was gonna say that too… But u will need to put something over the tophat to let it breath out or drill a small hole in The clamp where the tophat will rest that…. :2cents:

Would a clam like that work with the tank still installed? Think I’ll give that a try later today.
It would be better if we could drain the tank without removing it.

Pussies.
Bite down on the tophat and bang the bottle on the floor. 😉
