Q:

When to change breech O rings?

I’ve just got myself the 1K4 PSI regulated tank and the 48 CU bottle but It seems to be eating air up. About 1 bar a shot. The shots are all 639-642 FPS so to me that’s a hell of alot of air for that power? TBH I thought even with the 12″ barrel I’d have more power too?? to me the rifle seams quite loud too but perhaps that’s just going from my S400 to the SS and having the valve and hammer right next to my ear.

Anyway I’ve been In contact with a member off here for a while who has been helping me with the reg and all other problems (Cheers mate 😉 ) and he mentioned putting some tracing paper over the breech and If It moved, I’m loosing air. I tried with a single ply piece of toilet paper pushed tight around the cocking bolt and breech area, fired a shot and It got pushed right up Into the carry handle 😆

My valve hasn’t had the O ring mod on but still should I be loosing that much air?

Nothing else will come up 😆 You spoke too soon 😆 The little grub screw has got jammed In my frame and now the allen key Is starting to round the head. On the plus side It’s out enough so I can remove the barrel.

I’m using the 1 piece too so can’t adjust It. I took a video on my phone but It doesn’t pick sound up too well and It makes It seem very quiet. I’ll have to try with my video camera. I’d like more power but keep getting tank dumps when I add more preload needing me to adjust the spring retainer which then takes power down to what It was before. It’s not too bad though but I need to test It at bigger ranges as long as we get some decent weather over the weekend.

Sound like your getting somewhere with this.

With any luck nothing else will come up. Its worth the hasstle getting it all sorted and not quiting halfway through. Once all is up and running 100% I don’t think there is much that can better it.

Being that you are using a reg like I am and TH adjustments don’t make much of a difference try winding your TH all the way out so that when you cock your rifle and lock the breach slide into possition there is very little movement with the breach slide.

I found this minimises the ‘twang’ noise of the spring and cuts down on the crack of the breach slide hitting the frame.

Well the O ring modded valve seems to have done the trick and from my quick tests all that’s moving the tissue now Is the bolt and air that the hammer Is pushing as It flies back. I’ll be testing If my SPC improve tomorrow but the mod has quietend down the rifle a touch too 😉

Thanks Saw. Let me know about postage costs 😉

Alright fusion, I will mail the o-rings for ya

Here’s mine SAW

Perhaps Airforce stopped putting them on after? Another of there brainwave cost cutting ideas 😆

Thanks GTBJ. Looks like I’ll be looking for a small piece of pipe to put on 😉

Na bro, not at all.
I like the idea actually of the ice maker tubing.
I think I might have lost the little washer that was on the knob, I told fusion I had one for him, evidently I don’t, to tell ya the truth I don’t think there was one ever on it, looking at the marks on the knob.
I have since replaced my knobs with the aftermarket bling 8) 8) 8)

i was trying to help out fusion, The first knob I got rid of had the plastic bushing, this one never had one ?
I guess, but yeah, ice maker tubing sounds like a good alternative for him,
or hardware store nylon bushing.
Fusion, I will send ya the o-rings regardless, let me know about the knob.

I wasn’t trying to step on any toes, just throwing out a solution to the problem is all

if your missing the plastic thingy that goes on it to protect the frame a pice of 1/4 inch ice maker tubing cut to size works well.

Fusion-
here is the pic. of the knob, my other had a washer, got rid of it.
This one seems to have a milled collar on it.
Does yours have the collar, if not I will send you the knob.
I guess AF changed the design, hell, I don’t know

Cheers guys. Checked on my bolt handle and there Is not plastic washer. As Sot says though, The hole doesn’t go all the way through but saw – If the offer stands I’ll drop you a PM now as the cocking knob has damaged my rifle frame through metal on metal contact.

I don’t know how much of a difference the 90 duros will make to sealing If they are just a harder rubber but If the O ring valve Isn’t giving me the results that I want I’ll get hold of some and put them In.

I found RHIGHZ a few days ago and sent him a pm asking if he was selling o-rings. He replied no he stopped selling when someone started giving them away.

Nah, there was definately someone who was knocking out packs for about 3 bucks.

AH HA!!! Found it….
