Q:

Where do you stand?

I have a question and want to know your honest opinion.

This question relates to customising air rifles so might bit a bit touch and go for some but to me it is quite streight forward.

As we all know the Gunpower or airforce Rifels are not always up to much out of the box with many parts getting replaced by what we feel are better parts ie the hammer (because of weight, design and material) the valve (for more air flow and larger calliber) the list goes on so I will stop here.

To make my point I will use the valve as an example.
There are guidelines all over the Internet showing how to bore them out and get more power. It’s an airforce part so no one gets upset because it was not designed by one of us.

There has since been many people making their own version of the valve ie blodnob and lang.

Because these parts were designed by these people we go the them to buy the product (or someone who has permision to reproduce)

my question to you all is where do you stand with giving information on changing airforce parts by adapting the original desinge? Should we share it anong the group or charge people for the information? I am not talking about a unique design ie bn valve, wok butt ect

So the next time I miss a squirrel, I can blame it on frame flex. Cool 😀

Yep, or wind. That always works. 😆

Grip it too hard and twist enough and you’ll throw impact point off. 🙂

Aren’t condors better than the others about that because of the extra scope rail support?

the frame is not completely stiff.

Tweaking, porting polishing and improving is what we are all about.

If you want to know how to port and polish the valve….we have it

If you want to know how to do a trigger job….we have it

Vented bushings…have it

install bipod…have it

Avoid frame flex…have it

Etc….

Please pardon my ignorance, but what in the heck is frame flex?

Hey, I ain’t messin’ with any guy that hot rods a No 5……the rilfe ‘brutal on both ends’…….

As far as clever ideas to improve stuff, it’s hard to make a living off it. I’m happy to pass on what I can and help when I can.

The TAG and the TOG before it has always been about sharing information. I remember the first experiments with using a chrome plated socket as a hammer for the Condors…. information was and is shared and folks develop their own ideas and products based off it.. In some cases, folks have an idea, but no tools to make the product and get in touch with someone who does.

What happens is that as folks design products, either based off of others work, like the E-TaC… or their own unique design, like the WokButt…. folks tend to show a level of loyalty to that person.

Adams design for the WokButt has been copied and someone tried to sell it…. didnt do so well.

Jims design for the E-TaC is based off something that’s been done before… but wasnt marketed for sale, and Jim added additional features.

In both cases, they now have a following for their products.

Same with tuning…. There are several folks who tune AF guns….but when one thinks of tuning, they think Tony. Anything less is …well…. less.

Lots of drivel to say that I think that we as a group of AirForce airgun owners tend to be more loyal customers than most. Imagine the lashing a newcomer would get coming here trying to sell his version of a buttplate…..

Much tweaking and ideas have surfaced due to the free exchange of ideas
unfortuantely some tend to forget whence their idea came.
The information exchange was well underway even on the old Yellow Talon Forum.
It is indeed unfortunate so much was killed off with the death of the Yellow, the rediculous deletions on the TOG and the disappearance of so many front runners of Airforce tweakers.

valves…… I know valves 🙂

These are the replies I thought I would get. I am not selling anything but it did cross my mind where the limit is found between shareing and taking.

Thanks for all the replies.

If I didn’t find this site I would probably have not gotten an AirForce rifle. This site rocks!

X2

the entire reason i got an AirForce was to tinker, mod and explore.

i tore down my TT .25 (3rd hand gun) last night for the first time and learned a lot. i would NOT have done that if it weren’t for the info available from this sight.

I have never looked anywhere else for products or information period.

I’m all for the sharing of information of what works or makes something better it can only make our rifles better as a group so others don’t pass us by 🙂

Anything that improves the performance of the AF rifles makes us stronger as a group.
