Why Buy an Edgun?
This year there are a lot of new bullpups hitting the market. Some look very promising and unique while others look like they are designed out of spite. So why would anyone buy an Edgun R3M when there are so many other options in the market today?
Today I decided to take a break from squirrels and pigeons and check my Strelok vs real world application. I shot at 50 to check zero, then 100 to check Strelok and like so many others have posted the groups where what were to be expected, awesome. So armed with my RF i decided to see if the gun, scope, shooter and Strelok could shoot constantly at 200 yards. I have seen so many groups at 100, 50 and 75 yards but hardly ever at 200. I had a pretty strong breeze coming from my right at a 45 across the target. Like most desert shooting I had several wind events to contend with so I was going to be happy just to make my pellet trap gong. I also only have a fixed 12 power scope and I was dealing with some mirage. So now you have heard my whining and disclaimers here’s my Eddie shooting 200 yards in less than perfect conditions.

the first three were to the left, one on the target and two in the cardboard, I’m trying to dope the wind… they measured about 2.25″
This group was less than 2 inches and I felt pretty good about my hand pressure, cheek weld and breathing
This next group was the wind giving me a break and I am getting more comfortable and confident that the gun is better than me
These last two shots made be pack up and go home… I may never do this again in my life, but this is what the Eddie can do when the shooter gets a little luck on his side.
I hope this post was fun, informative and it challenges you to see how far you can shoot with the Edgun.

I get 48 before is falls off. I could squeeze a few more down to 110 bar if I use a little bit more hold. The gun maintains 915-920 almost to 100 bar. I feel this gun could get 70 shots at say 910-915. 940 seems to be the sweet spot for the flattest trajectory.
Keyser, thank you for the thoughtful reply. Of course a humanitarian kill is always preferred. I totally agree with using the .25’s greater power for longer-ranged shots. No need in getting the local Dems upset. (I’m an independent; don’t trust either party). I’ll keep this in mind, for ranges, and not ask my .22 to do more than I can guarantee (with my shooting skills).
Anderson, when going for the smallest deviation in velocity, did you notice an improvement in accuracy with that smaller ES\Sd?

I used to use the basic Strelok but I found at longer ranges the drop would be off 2-3 mil, and the longer distance the pellet wouldn’t hit. I bought the most expensive Strelok and added all the factors. The rate of twist is 420mm (according to Ed). I used to use the G1 profile but found the math didn’t match. The GA drag function seems like a more appropriate profile. My gun is set at 120 BAR and the speed is 940 fps. I found that combo gave me the least amount of velocity deviation.
I have a .22 Edgun. I can try it at that distance. I’ll add to this post.[/quote]
Keyser, how many shots per fill you get in your Edgun Standart .25 with speeds about 940 fps?(220-120 bar)

Darryl the California ground squirrel is a wicked tough little guy. They are the reason I have switched to a .25 airgun. I have killed them obviously with the .22 and in fact I would prefer to use the .22 because of shot count and noise. The problem with the .22 is shot placement. When using the .22 only heart/lung shots and head shots will stop them. When you extend your range past 80 yards with a .22 I found that I was wounding a lot of squirrels. I’m sure that most of the squirrels hit by the .22 die later but the sensitive nature of where I am shooting I cannot have a wounded furry friend run to a golfer and ask him for help. I’m sure the squirrel would run to the first democrat he could find.
There are 3 places on a ground squirrel that will stop them dead. Head is the most obvious, the second is in the arm pit area of the front legs and the last is the spine. I always go for those three spots. The best presentation is when the squirrel sits with his back facing the shooter, spine shot to the back of the neck is sure non-moving death. The longer distance I try for the front 1/3 figuring that I will hit a vital organ. On Wednesday I took a squirrel at 126 yards. I doped wind and misjudged my windage and the pellet move 2 mil more than I thought. I was trying a head shot but the pellet found the mark in the just in front of the shoulder blade. The squirrel kick once and he stopped. I got lucky. Longer ranges usually require spine or head hits. I don’t know if a .22 would have that kind of energy to break bones and explode his heart at that range.
Keyser, are you going for head shots or heart\lung shots when you’re shooting squirrels. Is there a distance involved where you make that decision? In other words does your R3M\.22 give you the accuracy to extend the range of head shots you take? Just (really) curious. With it being so cold here I have”t had a chance to take my new Edgun outdoors to really see what it and I can do.

How many total shots have you fired from your edgun .25 till today ?
I got the ED in October and it has been my main gun during that time. I use it to eliminate squirrels on various golf courses. So I would make an estimate that I have about 5 thousand rounds through her. I shoot the ED everyday because of where I do pest control I need to be super familiar with the gun. I found that the .22 EDgun is easier to shoot. The .25 for me needs a little more hand pressure because the gun jumps a little more.

Hello Darryl…don’t you have an after-market attachment for the Edgun that screws onto Hagan’s adapter? I’ve heard rumors that it is effective.
What does it cost? How long is it? Why don’t you answer my pm’s? Do you feel FX is deliberately being difficult to deal with? Why do you hate me? Do you have any snake problems where you live?

Great group. A curiosity: what would be the accuracy of .22 this exact distance (standard Edgun)? Has anyone done this grouping? Of course it is expected that the .25 has better results, but it would be interesting to analyze the “size” of this difference.

Wow impression very nice shooting. At what speed is your gun tuned? Was the strelok calculation accurate? I have purchased strelok pro but i havent got the time to test it yet, i have r3m .25 long, love the gun. Do you know what is the twist rate of the .25 long? Strelok pro ask for these settings.
