Worth the money?
Hi there,
So in the past I was looking a lot around to decide which rifke to go for.
Due to some private issues, couldn’t buy anything.
Now everything is solved and I came up to really invest in some good quality.
But I’m not 100% sure I have to say. Currently I have an Air Ranger and must say that it is really great rifle. But the design is not mine. I like more the classical style, like the Huntsman Classic or the total different more modern tactical style.
So to sum it up – like the Daystates and Theobens because of their nice quality and accuracy as well.
But I got a real taste to the EdGun Matador. Read some things about it. Nevertheless, please give me some opinions and recommendations, if the Matador is really worth it’s high amount of $$$ compared to the mentioned brands.
Thanks a lot!

How much would it cost to buy one of these from a dealer over sea’s? will they send them here? i guess if you have a warranty issue AOA prolly wont wanna deal with ya but they are a dealer so… kinda like buying a car from another state. sir ville bought a indy what did yours cost? us dollars..
Price of 30 call Bobcat is not $2305.
It is $2095 and it includes regulator by default and it is not an option.
I read it was AOA in a couple of places. AOA isn’t afraid to rape us on many items. AOA is the only US dealer on the FX web site. They are exclusive and that is the problem. A little direct importing would cure that bad habit in a hurry.
Now that some serious mark up…. last i heard there was only one FX importer correct me if im wrong… Sir ville any reason you cant buy a couple of these and send them state side? Not that i wanna take bussiness from anyone but man that sounds like a monopoly
I believe that would be the importer. Who ever that is. They probably buy them from the manufacturer at half or more than half of what they sell them for according to the price they cost in Sweden. They are coming up.

So who is collecting all of the outrageous markup on the FX stuff?
22- $1549 (synthetic)
22- $1849 (walnut)
25- $1895 (walnut)
EdGun (regulated)
22- $1950 (walnut)
25- $1950 (walnut)
FX (regulated)
22- $2005 (synthetic)
25- $2059 (synthetic)
30- $2305 (synthetic)
Depends of your definition of “overpriced” I guess. But overall i’d say that saying it’s “overpriced” is a bit exaggerated… I own both an EdGun and a Cricket plus a couple other limited run $2500+ rifles. The EdGun is NOT overpriced IMO.
You have to realize that there are or will be thousands of Daystate, Crickets, FX’s, etc. Chances are the total quantity of EdGuns will never get to the same scale. Comparing mass production to limited run production means that it’s not equal footing.
A top end Daystate will cost ANOTHER $500-600 more than the top end EdGun or Cricket, $1000 more than a Cricket synthetic. I’d say that is closer to being ‘overpriced’… And the Daystate’s are not without their own issues.
EdGun prices are single shot prices, not sure if the multi-shot rifles will cost more.
The only overpriced, and that seriously, on that list is the Bobcat. But that´s just for you US customers. It´s almost double the price in Sweden. Both Cricket & EdGun cost roughly the same they do over here – even a bit less.
But you guys are getting raped with that FX pricing. Seriously!
In Sweden – and the rest of Europe – the BC is actually priced very well aginst its competitors. If it just wasn´t that damned FUGLY !!!
Worth the money??? Excellent question. What is it worth to you to be able to hit a target over and over again for hrs on end?
Everyone Ive come across asks how much my two Edguns cost. When I tell them I get the “are you serious” look.
Then is set up shotgun and 22 shells at 100 and 150 and then proceed to pick them off with ease. They then get to shoot and the next question is where can they buy one. Never fails. The accuracy, efficiency, quietness, and lack of recoil on shot just amazes them. They never new airguns could be like this.
But here’s the kicker. Bullpups aren’t for everyone. I personally love the pup platform. Full size rifle capabilities in a sub carbine package.
I also am greatly appreciative that Ed is personally involved with his product, takes great pride In keeping with his standards, always improving and is readily available to his customers. That passion and personal touch speaks volumes to me.
You may not feel same. . That’s the $2k gamble for you.

**edited the price of the 30cal Bobcat, it comes with a regulator**
You didn’t include by how much it’s over-priced. Can we get that information?
Knowing the amount of I’m being over-charged by Ed– the only producer of the Edgun– would help
in deciding whether to buy a second one. . . Can’t believe that Ed.
All good points above. The EdGun stock finish leaves a little to be desired for the price, the rest of the things is a work of art! I got a Matador and a Cricket with the synthetic stock, the Cricket was about 500 less than the Matador so it’s certainly a better deal but for the caliber I have I get roughly half the shots over the Matador.
I don’t think you could go wrong with an EdGun, a Cricket, an FX, etc…
Factors that can sort out your direction.
Price. Cricket/FX/EdGun (Cricket being the most affordable at it’s lowest price, FX a close 2nd, EdGun being the most expensive).
Availability. Cricket/FX/EdGun (Crickets are everywhere, FX’s are trickling in and should be in in larger quantities, EdGuns are about patiently waiting, for the M versions that is).
Function. Depends on use. Caliber, hunting, target, plinking, etc, the most subjective of the lot.
Comfort. FX/Edgun/Cricket (Fx is probably the most comfortable, the EdGun is a bit taller than the Cricket).
I found both the EdGun and the Cricket to be a bit small in height (the Cricket is smaller than the Ed) without adding tall scope rings or making a new adjustable buttpad. I’m pretty tall though so others may not have experienced this issue.
Great time to be looking for a high end bullpup.
If youre spending the $ then throw the FX Bobcat in your mix of options. Seems to be getting some good reviews.

It is worth the money in the same manner Daystate , FX, etc. are worth their price tags.
Hands on experience though is priceless.
I have a Daystate huntsman and an fx whisper . I also have an edgun, all are really nice rifles . WHEN I FIRST GOT MY EDGUN,AFTER WAITING ONE YEAR SIX MONTHS, I was alittle disappointed with the quality of the stock, I mean $2000, compaired to a daystate stock, no compairison. Are edguns over priced ? absolutely.but if you want a tack driver that is only 29 inches long and over 70 shots .this is the rifle for you. I am currently thinking of tradeing my daystate and fx in on a cricket.if Tony took trade ins I would go for the edgun .25.I would never trade my edgun.its like an illness.once you go bullpup, you cant go back. $2000, remember supply and demand,I can have most other rifles shipped to my house in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!! just my opinion.

Robert the owner of AOA is the one that is raping us with the prices of FX. A cyclone sold for $800. until AOA became sole distributor then the price went to $1300. overnight. Hopefully Fredrick at FX will find a second distributor and then the prices will return to where they should be.
FX has a lot of good ideas but I wont buy one until the raping from AOA stops.
