Q:

You guys making it tuff.

I have had my heart set on a .22 Talon SS for a month now. I am saving some cash for it and plan on buying a hand pump & scope for it too. My main reason for buying it was because it was quiet and still a hard hitting rifle. I want to take it squirrel hunting this fall. My current Ruger 10/22 works just fine but I really like the aspect of a quiet rifle in the woods as well as plinking in the back yard.

Now this is what you guys did to me since I found this website. I have discovered that you can buy an aftermarket shroud for the Condor to quite it down considerably. Will it make a standard .22 Condor as quiet as a .22 Talon SS? If so, I might be better off buying the Condor for the added power and range with heavy pellets. I have read that the stock condor is as loud as any rimfire .22 which pushed me to the Talon SS. Thanks for any input.

This is a great website by the way and I can’t stop reading all the posts.

It was probably the “really” quiet part that got ya. You were probably thinking Mouse fart Quite and Tony was probably thinking g 😀 nat fart quiet!

quote knifemaker:

True That! One alternative is to contact Tony at Talon Tunes and order a Condor with a, say 18″to 21″ barrel. This will keep the oal down when shrouded! I’m using a 18″ in .22 and Love-it!

I ordered a shroud for my 18″ from Tony. I told him I wanted it really quiet..It was longer than the one I had for my 24″ when I got it so I put the 24″ back in….lol 😯

mikefr24, I regret to inform you that YES the Condor can be
as quiet as the SS, so you may as well start with a Condor…
Trust me, you would have turned your SS into a Condor later anyway…..
The only time the sound can not be tamed when
shooting the Condor, is when you are slinging pellets out of
it at the speed of sound. About 1,150fps…Nothing can quiet a pellet that is
going fast enough to break the sound barrier. Heavier pellets
and lower fill pressures give you that ability to get the speed
down and hit really really hard….
Just one word of advice…These things are like Crack….
Once you start you can’t stop….

somewhere around 47 inches with the 24 incher, shroud, and WoK butt which is a must have item no mater which AirForce you get.

stock is about 40 with the WoK butt

Wow that changes everything. If the condor can be quiet I might have to consider that gun. It sure is long however. Has anyone measured the condor with the extended shroud? I think the stock length is 36″

Thanks for the input.

welcome to the mad house Mike 😛

to answer your question the condor can become quieter than a stock SS with a simple slip on but it dose make it looong 😉
