The pellet trap in behind was purchased for $45.00 and is just not possible to use indoors with out making a terrible mess and it ricochets lead fragments everywhere. I am just chronying in the shop so here is my 5 minute solution that works fabulous, no mess, no lead spraying, no targets to change, quiet, easy lead recovery, I just cannot find an issue with it other than the obvious. It even sounds cool, kind of a woooop instead of a bang clang and then lead hitting the walls, I am seriously over the old one. I am throwing the old one out side for 50 yard targert and just putting a wood safety behind this totally tubular tube job. 😀 How does the saying go…..All that is complicated is not good,….and all that is good need not be complicated….
Ok, now everyone can give me hell over safety issues !! 😀

Here is a short video watching the tube job absorb 3 shots of .30 cal. pellets. @ 22 seconds 34 seconds 44 seconds, this is just for fun cause I needed a break tonight, not a long term deal cause it is obviously small but the concept shape is my favorite for upscaling. There is no missing dead center at this distance either.
When you get your hands on the rubber playground stuff, overfill the trap and cover the front with a piece of cardboard. Get a mega roll of duct tape and cover the front to hold the mulch and cardboard. Whenever it get a little ragged just re-duct tape it. I just keep taping mine. Must be 3 mega rolls on there by now.
It’s a 22LR trap and with the mulch I’ve test fired .25 winchester silvertips, .380, .38, and 9mm into it no problem.
I’ll let you know after a few months lol. The box feels very rubberish and easy to pin a new target on. The below video shows of the interior for the bow targets but the concept is the same for the pellet version.
While the lead dust or edge hits might be an issue for indoor, a larger version might be great for outdoor use with easy lead recovery.

How many hits between servicing it ?? I was also not needing targets so the paper chads and targets are gone this way too, clear plastic tape over paper targets do this too.

I commented earlier that my life had been reduced to having nooners with my edgun as I done my final string today at lunch, might as well make it good. The original owner of said lips shall remain nameless !!!
P.S. The reality is the lead dust was atrocious with the old trap pulverizing pellets and spewing the dust, this seems dust free but I am still going to add a drop tube to enclose more completely for better dust control yet.
ride ,about six inches into the box front is another piece of plywood that is held in with screws and the front of it i staple on cardboard so from cardboard front to false wall is about 6 inches that way all the rubber mulch is contained when its been shot to hell all i do then is turn it upright remove the screws and put another wall back in and go to town on it some more. i got the mulch at home depot

I like the rubber mulch deal too but I did not want to drive 35 miles each way, I looked around before I left work tonight for it local and no go.
I am tired of shooting the front out of every thing I try and making a mess with the guts falling out. This needs scaled up to a square version of 12″ x 12 ” and necked down into a catch box. How do you keep the mulch in the boxes after you shoot the front out. ???
I wanted a maintenance free solution and this is totally maintenance free, just a little small. 🙂 The pellets slow tremendously before coming out the bottom of the tube, and land in a old sweatshirt my daughter donated. I guess it is cause of a lot of a lot of contact area and not just a ricochet off a 45 degree angle. I am going to lay something below to indicate velocity out the bottom and test for curiosity.
there won’t be any shoot through, I used an old scrap piece of funny car cage, chrom moly .188 wall.
I like the orange rim idea, I’ll get the wife to make me some real bright, hooker red, lips on it though instead
my 25 yrd target got made as well with removable panel to place targets on

It advertise that it can take pellets up to 1750 fps.
You will still be getting a huge amount of lead dust in the air with this set-up. IThink I’ll stick with my 5 gal. paint bucket on end filled with rubber mulch. 😉

and maybe put it inside of a larger elbow for safety
