Suppressor or PCP?
I have a Savage Mk2, and am planning on send it off for some accurizing. It would be a great time to get it threaded, and I have money set aside for the threading, tuning, and suppressor and related trust paperwork. But, I can buy a M-rod or Rainstorm plus compressor and tank for a little more than $1K. What say you all? Shooting will be in the not so country country.

Yes it is. 3 lbs lighter than a marauder, and more powerful
Yeah I have been eyeing one of them! I wish they came in .25.
I may get flamed for this, but, I have run some SPL tests on my Talon SS shooting at 18-20 FTLB’s and the results speak for themselves. 68db 90 degrees from the muzzle right at dusk. This just happened to be one of the most quiet times around my house. Actually had one of my neighbors look over and state “Hey that thing is really quiet, I couldn’t even hear the shot, just the hit” Don’t know if that helps you out any, but the same SS has taken Squirrels, Grackles, Crows, ect out to 50+ yards, and even with very picky neighbors never a complaint. Prior I used a few Crosman HPA, and PCP converted customs, and had the police called on me several times. Since the law in my area clearly states if it’s an air gun, on your private property, the officers just stop by, say hello, and leave. Oh, almost forgot my Talon SS is .22 cal if that matters. The only additional things I have done, was to drill one vent hole under the forearm, drill the front bushing, and add just a bit of scotch brite inside the shrouded part of the rifle. Don’t know if this helps at all, but that has become my go to rifle for pest control in my yard. Doesn’t hurt that it will also put 5 shots in a ragged hole at 25-50 yards if I do my part. It likes to eat JSB’s.

That rainstorm sure is nice!
Dust,
I need some help, I don’t get your point.
Buy one 30 cal can. I can use it on my 7.62, my .22, a 6.5G if I buy one, etc. A PCP can only be used as a PCP, and the shroud etc. cannot be easily moved, unless I buy the mags, barrel, bolt etc. to convert a .177 marauder to a .22 marauder or vice versa.
may asks for permission, can shows ability. Call it a play on words.

Insert May instead of the second Can… Probably should read
A .30 caliber can(moderator) May be used on anything in the safe(probably referring to any of the guns he he has in his gun safe)
Not a literary major, but that was my take on it

No doubt, but a 30 cal can can be used on anything in the safe. PCP can’t really be moved around (unless you want to argue caliber change on a marauder)
There seems to be a rash of posts here on the airgun site claiming that anything bigger than a rabbit needs shot with a PB. Then an example is given of a quiet PB making no more power than is easily available with airguns!
Shooting PBs subsonic means shooting at power that airguns can match.
Just this year airguns have taken lots of deer, Elk and even black bear. More than one buffalo has been taken with an airgun (the first one (not the video one) dropped in place with one shot).
There’s no need to burn powder just to kill a yote.
PCP rifles are a lot of fun, and would certainly do for the game you mentioned, but if you plan on shooting anything larger, like yotes, a powder burner would bet the better choice.
My personal “quiet” gun for larger pests is a T/C Contender Carbine with a Fox Ridge Outfitters (T/C Custom Shop) 24″ 32 H&R Mag barrel. A light powder charge of 3 grains behind a 220 Sierra BTHP Match bullet gives a very quet and hard hitting load at subsonic velocities. Ask me how I know. 😉
You can also fire .32 ACP ammo in this barrel but accuracy suffers in the longer chamber.
No cans in Japan. Hell no. Haven’t priced them in the states.
How much for a silencer over there???
Ffs, send me a PM and I’ll get u a decent rimfire can for less than a hundred bucks. Work has slowed down and I’ve got time now. I’ve a few ‘dismantled’ parts to send to another member here, I’ll add you to the list….. 😀
Been close to a year now, and wanted to see if anyone else had new thoughts to add? Been thinking about selling my Roald tuned RWS 850, and it would be a great time to get things started. 32F shooting is no good for CO2

So after reading an article in the recent varmint hunter’s magazine, I decided to put a price list together
So, let’s see how it works out. Rimfire, threading, legalese, can, 10K ammo
PCP, shoebox, guppy, 10K ammo
I have the rimfire, it was $150, barrel haven’t priced out yet, but threading is $50 from the neighbor’s lathe. Paperwork was supposed to be about $200, $200 for the stamp. $250 to $500 for the can $520 for 10K of CCI Standard Velocity
$150
$50
$200
$200
$350
$520
$1470 for the can route
Pcp $400-660 free shipping
Shoebox $549 plus shipping
$255 for 10K of JSB Exact Jumbo
$1305 plus guppy tank and fittings
Am I missing anything?
