Target shooting ..what can you do?!
I have heard this expression time and time again.
“If I can’t keep a 1/2 in group at 50 yards, something is wrong”
I would like to see it. Join in, get up off your couch and play with your gun a little bit. An excuse to play with the gun, always fun.
Simple rules of the game.
Print this target out…or use one like it!
Set up between 45-50 yards with a benchrest
Don’t shoot through 15 targets just to pick the very best .
Sight in the gun first then print out 1 and see what you can do.

My RiffRaff inspired quarter shot at 25 yards with a EJ 16.1 grain pellet.
Here is a target I shot this morning after I “tuned” my Condor .25 attempting a flatter shot curve. For my test results see the Condor index, “400 pellets later I saw the light” Note the better group was with the Benji pellets. I expected the JSB’s to spread vertical due to the increase in velocity of a lighter pellet. Chairgun estimates the JSB punchin’ out at 1031 😯 while the Benji’s were rockin’ toward the bull at 985. 😎
These were taken at 55 yards, my “zero”.
I didn’t realize till after I read sloooooowly 😉 the rules of engagement. I’ll punch some paper tomorrow with my Marauder .22.
This is my second try at shooting this target. I tried once Saturday and it was too windy to do accurate shooting.
Today wasn’t as windy and I tried to shoot between gusts. The wind still got me on a couple of shots. I shot one target, here it is. On a good day, the last group is about average for the Edgun at 50 yards.
Edgun Matador R2.5 25 cal long version shooting JSB 25.4 grain pellets. These shots were using weight sorted pellets that weighed 25.5 grains.
Weight sorting pellets is a huge pain in the ass but, it makes a noticable difference, even at 50 yards.
Mrnewbe, keep at it! There are days (way too many!) that I suck at shooting also.
If we will never get any better than we are right now, wouldn’t that just suck?!

Here is one important thing…get a good gun, tune it too shoot a particular pellet really well and NEVER EVER TOUCH the adjustments again and keep shooting the same pellets again and again. I shoot my Rapid the most but while i try different pellet just for shits sake, i never touch the settings on the power wheel once tuned for said favorite pellet

I think I’m pretty good, so It must has to be the gun’s fault! Right?
Played with the gun made a few changes..several rounds of targets and 4 or 5 refills with the shoebox.
Here is the end results, the best groupings I have ever done. More importantly, I think I figured out my problems and can do this with CONSISTENCY!
The bottom left was a flyer, I took 1 shot, was distracted and moved to the next target..a 6-7 shot group.
To see how I was distracted..you have to head over to the Hunting section, it was cool!

Wind has been crazy here also. I have even tried shooting at night once the wind dies down.
Went to the range last Saturday night at 11 PM. No wind and I shot one 100 yard 5 shot group, just to see if the gun was still sighted in. I was using my new scope rail mounted light and I shot a .700” CTC, 5 shot group.
The Edgun was on and I set up 25, 12 Ga shotgun shells, at 100 yards, and the camera wouldn’t pick them up. I tried side lighting the shells with a couple of other flashlights that I had with me. By the time I got everything set up, my camera’s battery died, dumb ass me forgot to turn the camera off while I was setting the extra lights up! I hit the first 9 shells and then one of the side flashlight’s batteries went dead. I gave up for the night!
I have tried uploading my .700” group and Photo bucket won’t let me. It just locks up. Has anybody else had trouble with Photo Bucket? Is there another site that I can upload pics to and link them to the TAG? If not, does anybody here want to have me send the pic to them and have them post it?
God, I feel like such a NOOB! The last week’s air rifle stuff has just sucked!
I find anything heavier gives more punch, but isn’t anywhere as consistent.

Yes, thats the post. I’m going out of memory here. I think my gun had a 2 piece hammer setup, one little spacer piece that weighed about 20gr..then the stock condor hammer (about 45gr), the brass one was about 75 gr. At the time I did put them on a weight scale. I left the little 20gr spacer one in as well.

My S410 shoots like that, but of course its in .22 so I use it a lot less. This one I kept in my wallet for a while LOL. 10 JSB at 50y in PERFECT conditions. I had just installed my new shroud. I kept shooting til the mag was empty, crazy luck I didnt spoil it. 😀
And of course right after that from my shooting sticks, same range.
That predator target makes me want to buy a tin but I doubt they will outshoot the benjis in my barrel. 😎
LOL. yeah, they are expensive but they are worth it to me. My BSA Lonestar in 22 was about this accurate.
Wow! good shootin. I have 3 AF guns. If I sold all three would that be enough for a downpayment on a Rapid? 😕

Shot this morning with my .22 Marauder. Remember the rifle that so many claim shoots like crap? 🙄
45 yards (my zero) no wind 56 degrees.
I hate to leave pellets in the magazine so I shot 10 instead of 5. Sorry. 😉
Also, the one at the 6-7 ring? Me thinks that was a CP pellet that snuck into the lot. 😆
I don’t need no stinkin’ $1500 air rifle ❗ (but I want one 😆 )
