3 Regulated FX Royale 500s: Updated (QC issues)
After much research and deliberation, two friends and I each decided collectively and individually that the FX Royale 500 w/reg would be our next airgun. After they saw my Talon SS at a recent airgun get together, they both decided they wanted their first PCP. I have had the itch for a .25 for a few months, so this was a perfect opportunity to do the research and pull the trigger.
Other top contenders included the Daystate Airwolf MCT in .25 and Royale 400 w/reg in .22, but the FX Royale 500 w/reg edged them out. Go big or go home, so it was .25 all the way.
We all settled on the Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical 6.5-20X 1/2 Mildot and Holland’s Scope levels. We took delivery on Monday and unboxed them today, mounted and leveled the scopes, pumped up the tanks, and hit the range.
We got them all zeroed 2″ high at 25 yards within 6 shots each to get them on paper, then zeroed them at 50yrds. Once zeroed, groups of one quarter sized ragged hole were the norm at 50 yards. All three guns were cleaned with Patchworm kits using Ballistol then dry patches. The bores were extremely dirty.
All three of us were able to hit shotshells at 70 yards with JSB 25.4gr Kings with a one mil-dot hold over. Today was shooting for fun, next trip to the range will include paper punching for groups. The 500 is an incredibly accurate and extremely quiet air rifle.
I brought my .22 TT TSS along for the opportunity to shoot it at 70 yards since some recent upgrades. I was thrilled with the performance as I was easily able to repeatedly hit a pill bottle shot after shot at 70 yards with a 2 mil-dot holdover (35yrd zero), also with the Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical 6.5-20X 1/2 Mildot scope. Incredible performance for a 12 inch barrel.
All in all it was a great day of airgunning.

Somehow I doubt that and you absolutely took a different tone with AZ, but there is no real way to know is there…

Personally, I do see the humor. Not really funny but sort of a poetic justice thing. Josh has done a lot of commentary like the scope thing where it appears that his stuff is great and anyone elses is not quite as good… or only snobs would have it… Now he gets a premium gun and it’s got issues…
Of course, he didn’t deserve to get screwed by UPS and FX….
UPS did not screw him, it was returned to sender. The second UPS thing he received it less than 4 hours after his crying they stole it. Kinda sad really especially after some of his other posting….. And where are the pics? his other posts would have had 20 pics of every conceivable angle to the point most of them looked the same.
Having trouble feeling for the guy as I think he is his own worst enemy.
Remember the posting that he had to sell guns to pay for his dying mother and after a bunch of sypathy poured in he fianlly admtted it was just a ‘what if’ kinda question? He really lost me there and his credibility went out the window.
And made all the worse because he scheduled a few hundred $$ worth of machining the day the rifle was supposed to arrive and had to pay for the shop time even though the rifle didn’t show. 😯
I’m no fan of the guy but poor QC for a “high end” rifle is totally unacceptable, deserving or not, after the UPS and the shop time the QC shit is brutal.

I need to go back and check but I don’t think Josh has posted any pictures yet. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a valid gripe but it is curious as he has posted pics of his gun before (IIRC it was the one with the little scope).

Yep, he even claimed they stole it! 🙄 One of the problems was the same problem photographed on page two of this thread. The other was a leaking bottle when it was off the gun and I think he messed up the fire/safe thing (which was his third complaint). He probably hasn’t noticed the shroud touches the bottle… 😆
Shit I have a PB that has a similar safety but with no letters or colors to be found, when the lever is pointed towards the muzzle it’s free to fire (which is typical for that type of safety I believe).
Have one for me GTBJ, I have to go to a thing this evening and have to wait until later. 😉

I would say (based on what I have read so far) the guy owed Josh some $$ and didn’t have cash on hand and wouldn’t for a while, he (the guy who owes Josh) agrees to make the order for the rifle on his card and have it shipped to Josh. I don’t think anyone gave anyone else their credit card numbers.
The madness ensues, issues arise and Josh is going to have one hell of a time getting this resolved.
Be careful, Voltar might say your blowing the whole thing out of proportion and you’ll be deserving of a pos rifle next time you order… 😆

You have that wrong about the AZ bottle mod. I have spoken out against it from the beginning but in the case of the Yellow that gets removed.
So I am against both bottle mods for the same reason the bottle has been ‘mutilated’ and therefore should be destroyed.
So no hypocrite here.
I don’t care who it happens to, its bullshit that you pay this kind of money, and have issues like that.
And I would agree some people are snobby about high end airguns.
You mention anything bad about these manufacturers or companies, and you get flamed for it.

I have an FX 500 royale
I get 88 shots from 210 bar to 140, at 875 fps with JSB 25.4 grains
I try a lot of ammo. And the best are JSB KING
I read that the best pellets for ST are Defian Pellets. But i cant get it in .25 in USA
