Narrowing down powerful .25 rifle choices.
I spoke to Steve at PAG today. I can get a Rapid with Steve’s shroud and a quick fill installed or a Daystate Air Wolf with his shroud for same money. He will adjust either from 50-60 ft./lbs. where I desire.
I also saw listed, but didn’t speak to him about, a Daystate Air Ranger 80fpe .25 tactical & moderator for the same money.
I’m thinking the 80 fpe would be too much but read something about them having a good barrel on them compared the the lower powered Air Rangers.
I’m looking to bust woodchucks and pigeons up to and beyond the 100 yard range,
I did ask Steve which he would prefer and he would only say his favorite rifle is the Rapid, not that it was better.
I think he also said the Rapid was lighter but from what I have read the opposite is true.
Thoughts and experience on these guns appreciated.

Just a little up date.
I plan on doing bit of a review eventually on this rifle but the weather has been pretty crappy.
It is white this morning and wind gusting 30+ MPH.
As far as good weather for accuracy and chronograph testing just haven’t had it yet.
I do have some time on the rifle though and some initial impressions. It is accurate and I’ve quite a few pigeon and starling kills around the 100 yards mark.
The length isn’t too long and the Hugget shroud is very effective. I almost think it is quieter than when new if “break in” for a shroud is possible.
It does like it’s air.

Perhaps they do as another poster stated he received his OEM shroud with his rifle with the Hugget installed.
I just called to make sure.
I might of caught the sales person off guard with the question and he not as clearly relayed “of course you will” than he should of.
Got to thinking.
What if AoA keeps the OEM shroud.
Gave a call and asked if they shipped the OEM with the rifle.
Was told they would if I wanted.
Told them I wanted.

A bit better picture.
Haven’t had time to shoot her over a chronograph yet but starlings are pretty easy at 60-70 yards.
Unfortunately I did have to work today so couldn’t shoot it the most. Wanted to shoot it a few more times before dark so shot 5 Predators standing against my garage door frame to an old fuel tank that sits 75 yards away.
It is standing on end so I shot at the filler cap which I’d guess to be about 3″ in diameter.
Holding up one mil dot that was good for the Barracuda Hunter Extremes I could see the impact for the first two shots was low and right so I held up two mil dots and a bit off and drilled it three consecutive shots.
Critters are going to hate this rifle once i become one with it(grin)

Well, it is pretty quiet.
About like my Royale 400.
Not quite as quiet as my Condor with Air Hog shroud was.
Your hear the hammer pretty good and authoritative phhhht! Pretty good considering the power,IMO.
Those Huggent’s really are good looking! 😉 So how did it sound, ( Or not sound?) 😆

Well, it showed up. I’ll do a bit of a review once I get her rung out a bit.
The chronograph slip showed 5 shots averaging 953 fps. with JSB Kings.
My initial thoughts are it is a beautiful rifle.
I put a Hawke 10X sidewinder on her and sighted her in easy enough at 50 yards.
It was a quick and ugly sighting in but it did seem to shoot accurately. Seems to like the Barracuda Hunter Extremes real well, as well as the JSB Kings. The Benjamins didn’t group too well though I’ll try them a bit more before writing them off.
After sighting in at 50 yards I let 5 Barracudas off at an old fuel tank 75 yards away and they clustered pretty good and dropped just over one Mil Dot from the 50 yard sight in.
Guess it took a while for AOA to get the Hugget shroud installed as tracking info. just showed up yesterday. Due at my place Tuesday.

I’ll be damned if my factory shroud didn’t sell almost immediately for $100- just like ole Hoot said.

I mean to eventually do a report with some good rifle pics,shot strings, and and accuracy pics.
But been too busy. Fortunately I do get to use the rifle quite a bit in my everyday work sniping starling,pigeons, and some furred critters.
This rifle is a hammer.
Shot a pigeon at 142 yards the other day-my personal best.
100 yards is dangerous for anything I want to take.
Been pleased with the rifle.
I am going to send the magazine back to AOA for a exchange as it doesn’t index all the time.
