Q:

Help? Matador fps is erratic all of the sudden.

I have about 3,500 pellets through my .22 standard . I’, shooting 15.9 gr for now because I’m out of 18.1, but 15.9s used to shoot around 985 and my 18.1s used to shoot around 890. I noticed a while ago that my edgun started shooting a little slower. I messed with the hst a little and it sped back up. Now it started to slow down again, so I turned the hst a little more. After a little longer I noticed my poa changing and I had to keep chasing my crosshairs around..up, down, up , up, down, down , etc. Again, I tried to mess with the hst. My gun would start off shooting slow, then it would ramp up to blazing speed as I shot more. Here is where it’s at now. I haven’t ever messed with the regulator, so I was wondering if something could come loose on it or something to make it shoot erratic? I’m new to these as you can tell, but for now my rws 48 is way more consistent than my Edgun :(. Here’s what it looked like a little bit ago when I shot a string.

Sweet! Thank you guys for the input. It was shooting in the 935s and a tad higher when I first put it in and I turned the hst down to the lower 9s. That’s where I have kept it now…in the low 9s. I will see how she does 🙂

– but I’d recommend to leave it just where it is for now and may be run a few more complete strings every now and then to check if it stays……..

So far looking very good !!!! 😀

Looking decent for a young reg. Still some fine tuning of reg and HST needed once you crack 2500 pellets. It should tighten up to around 10fps max spread with an acceptable SD range in the 2-3s

Here’s where my gun is shooting at the moment with where my hst is set. I have about 1250
JSB 18.13 gr through it.

…I’m back! I am so happy and glad to of had the help and assistance from Ed, Tony and the rest of everyone on here. I got my new reg and got it installed. 🙂 It appears I have the hst set so it’s shooting consistent 880’s. I need to get some full strings when I get time. So far, I shot a few hundred pellets through at 25-40 yards and my point of aim has stayed pretty consistent.

Thanks! It´s exactly what i´ve done all the way..

I wouldn’t worry about it. Just shoot it like it is broken in and the “break in” will take care of itself.

quote Demp223:

Sweet. Do you know if it will be set to the standard 130 bar or lower.
Sad part is you have to break this new reg in. Good part is you get to shoot it a lot to break it in 🙂

How much shooting is involved in the break-in process ?? 1000 shots? 2000? 5000?

I am so happy with those guys and all of you on here. Tony said it’s set at 130 and it’s one of the latest revisions 🙂

The set screw wont stay tight and I contacted Tony like Ed suggested and he already has a new regulator on it’s way! All I have to do is send my faulty one back after I replace it! And the new one is already factory set! Woo Hoo I am so happy. Those guys are so amazing! I am an Edgun lover for life!

Well keep us posted.

I don´t think my reg´s busted though since the shot deviation is so small. 😯 I start with 272-273 mps (around 890+ fps) and stay there with max 5 fps dev. up/down and it´s first when i´m down at 115 bars it´ll go down some more to 266-268 mps (around 875 fps) for those last ten shots to 100 bar or so.
The reg adjusting screw is easily turnable though and the cap/lock screw doesn´t sit on tight that either. Doesn´t need to (hopefully) as long as it´s there.

I don’t know at the moment, Demp…about how many threads are showing till I take it apart. Every time I work on it, that set screw is loose when I take out the regulator. I have to get my tank filled later, so Im taking a break for now 🙁 .

I was going to suggest going another full turn in on reg screw.
IIRC my reg screw was down in there with appx 2.5 threads exposed above it so lock screw went down in about half it’s threads. I used soft jawed pliers to snug up all valve body parts and the lock screw had a definite snugness to it( little bit tighter than effort to twist off beer bottle cap). The reg screw moved real easy
About how deep in is your reg screw?
Ed, what causes busted regulator? Is it Belville washers not springing back and basically rattling apart regulator?
