Air rifle twist rates
Just received my latest edition of Shotgun News ! Inside is an article on Air Rifle Twist Rates by Tom Gaylord. very interesting and informative. I have posted the lead page, I would scan the entire article for the forum enjoyment but scanner is to small.

Aah, 😉 I was thinking Bench Rest!
Shooting a perfect silhouette match is not very difficult, I shot six perfect matches last year (plus perfect relays, that is 12 40’s in a row)… :whistle:
Once I sort the leade out I can see this barrel getting 0.2″ five shot groups one after another. It take a lot of force to get the pellet fully seated. 😯
If it shot a perfect score, it doesn’t sound like it’s bothering the accuracy very much! 😉

I was told the bore was too loose…
I’ll push a few pellets down this one and see how it compares to the other.
For the record this BM barrel I just got was one of the early ones. 😉
Main issue now it that it’s 0.751″ diameter for over 20″ and has a big ass air stripper at the end (4 oz in weight). Damn thing is wicked heavy for off hand shooting. 😯
The leade is a bit tight and is probably messing up some of the accuracy. This barrel shot a perfect benchrest score indoors (750) before I got it. 😮
Well, that sure sounds better! I wonder what the problem was with teh first bbl. Crown perhaps? 😕

0.2″ to 0.75″ ctc five shot groups at 45 yards indoors Saturday from a rest, shot 20 groups total and 115 shots from a single fill (13.43grain JSB’s & AA at 760-815fps) started at 1600psi and shot down to 950psi… :whistle:
Shot a silhouette match Sunday, VAR Open PcP class (front bench rest only) and shot two perfect scores (40/40) with a slight right to left wind.
Think I may have found my championship barrel. :thumb:

Sent the Benchmark barrel back with a nice pdf scan of nine targets I shot with it… I was getting two groups 1.5″ apart at 30 yards.
Found another one for sale from the same guy I got the slow twist barrels from. Should be here Friday (hopefully). This one is supposed to be one of the good ones. 😉

At least I have one barrel that is the bee’s knees for this season, and possibly one more if everything works out. I also put my order in for two more slow twist LW’s! Can’t ever have enough good barrels i’ve found! :whistle:

The barrel was set up for a FX Royale I think. He had to cut it down an inch or two (create a new step) and cut a new leade so it would go in my USFT.
