Snow clone BP
So someone on the GTA forum pressed Mike from Citrus Airguns for the price he’s going to set on the p12 and he’s saying $1000. Guess I’ll just be sticking with my Crickets.

Assembled by Americans in a factory “managed” by Americans is just as big of an issue as assembled in China.
Autoworkers in the USA have a track record for producing some major shit and doing some shitty things to the overpriced vehicles they ‘assemble’.
Until China & Russia start importing vehicles into the USA the american auto makers have the dubious honor of being the worst car makers on record… 😳
Unfortunately there are many others in that cathegory .
I´d quess the price would be around 500 $ a piece – which is fair.
And people say $2k for an Edgun is rediculous but they sell out.
Never underestimate the dynamics of a free market. People will buy what they want for whatever price they want
regardless of actual value.
As far as made in China junk.
I suggest everyone take just 20 min to look around your home to see all the junk from China you have already paid for handsomely. Crap is made here, there, everywhere as well as quality products regardless of who is overseeing QC or who is assembling. Can’t make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
Get over it. It’s worldwide. Buyer beware.
Your “Ford” is filled to the brim with Chinese parts.
The point is if the gun is equal quality the price is not going to be cheap just because it came from China.
What is the dealers cost per unit? Once that is know the mark up can be calculated and a real price point can be determined.
Has anyone a clue on what the per unit price is from the factory?
“My Ford ” would be filled with Chinese parts – yes. But it would be assembled by Americans, in a Factory managed by Americans. That´s far from being made in China. That´s been my point all along . Like said Chinese can – and will – do as good a stuff as anyone once the “rules for the Game” are set – and more importantly – followed to a tee. By that i mean the parts are controlled after the norms used in the Western World.
The P12 clearly isn´t . Is it worth 1000$ ? To me – No. Is an EG worth the double ?? To me – No. I can see similarities in the QC, or lack of it, between those two though.
Theres a little asian shop up in LA that imports and sells snow peak springers, next time I’m up that way I’ll check to see if this is something he can get of course thats if he understands me or me him (but his daughter sure is cute ) I really doubt snow peak is firm on the single distributor issue lets face Iit china isnt exactly know for keeping their word when it comes to their product and making money.
The sad thing is Mikes $1000 price tag will eventually kill the importation of the snow cone, most of the more widely known/popular forums have been following these posts and the general consensus is its a $500 AG with no way to justify a $500 price jump with just the few things Mike is bringing to the table. And with low/no sales importation will cease as the price bar has already been set and lets face it when the last time you’ve seen a $500 price adjustment to an msrp price. As for mikes comment on already selling most of the first order thats BS, the is no mention of these for sale anywhere on his site and I believe I saw it mentioned that these are sold in batches of 100 units and also believe it was mention by another member that they where $250 from the manufacturer.
There is LOTS of shit made in all countries, this one (USA) as well.
Wasn’t the Hooligun co-developed by Ed at some point, or was it prototyped?
Still, if you look at the breech, the scope mounts, the hammer, essentially everything but the stock, it screams Edgun R2/Hooligun would that not make it a clone? Or do we need to say those other ones are clones. 😕
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing either! Nothing wrong with a clone if it’s done well! 😉
Has anyone seen the USFT clone the guy in Canada made? 😯 Absolute thing of beauty!!!
And FUCK the over priced POS iPhone, shittiest phone I have ever had!!!!!!! :angrymob:

Of course not. It shouldn´t cost less than any product made anywhere AS long as the quality is on par. But those things almost exclusively – on things i´ve come across – are made by corporates owned and managed abroad and not by Chinese. That means they have another level of QC and are made according specs and regs stated by the “parent company”.
That said – would you buy a new fancy Truck – made in China by a Chinese Company run by Chinese – of a new brand and pay say 65% of a price of ie Ford and think it´s as good ? I doubt it …
Honestly how is that different then any other countries product?
In China you can have anything produced at the highest level….if you are willing to pay for it.
It really is ridiculous to believe it should cost less because it is coming from China.
You know what else comes from China?…. The Ipad, Iphone, Ipod, Kindle, Xbox, playstation, Wii and much more.
Should the Iphone cost less because it comes from China?
If it can stand toe to toe with the big boys in material, workmanship and customer support then why should it cost far less?
Ti tube and Grade 12 Bolts won´t make a Chinese made AG worth 1000$ though.
If those o-rings were the only problem – like the Mr Citrus wants to make it sound like – that would be nice but as already seen on Wiley Wombat´s test thread there are lots of different points to be adressed. With Chinese products you´re always on the edge : You´ll either get a properly functioning item, a Lemon or something in between. I´d count the odds somewhat like 25 – 75 or so. This goes for everything they make since the QC is non-existing and they don´t seem to have any pride put into making them – quantity foregoes quality.
The Ti tube is another matter : In my line of work (certified welder for pressure vessels and pipelines) all the Chinese raw material (steel, alu,Ti) is not Approved unless inspected and tested by an EN Certified organ for pressure vessels. This includes x-ray,radiograph,bend and other fatigue tests etc. It doesn´t matter what grade Ti it is since the Chinese system for certification is a joke.
On the other hand there are similar problems with Russian metals.
So the latest word from mike at citrus air: I would like to let everyone know the p-12 OR KAM Stinger as it will be sold aswill meet or exceed all needs you have for a bull pup I have been talking with Snow Peak andputting my one request for changes on the gun. These Bull pups have no different issues thanlets say the marauder and were or what service do you get from crosman they tell you flat out its due to mass production and give you another gun. As to o-rings every gun out their has had issues with them at some point so i think its time to drop the issue of made in china I saw wingmans review also lets see I think shot for shot it was as good as both russian guns selling for 16 to 2800 and the shot count was on unregulated power as to the noise I will make the quiet. It was mentioned by several that some one capable needs to go thru the gun well I think steve would agree that I’m more than capable of making this gun a solid performer. and the gun is being sold starting at 1000.00 I think the mere suggestion it should be less is crazy titanium tube grade 12 bolts yes thier o-rings may suck wow I’ll spend a 1.50 in new rubber for a gun with this potential and yes we have already sold most and several will be converted to 25 cal.
Arent these sold in 100 gun batches….I call BS
I studied that pic when I wrote the review but every second pcp out there with a in line hammer design uses this design.. again the closest comparison is the Russian Hooligun crossed with an air arms
Hmmm Snow Cone…. yup I like it, all I favor say aye. Damn that brings me back havent had one of those in at least 20 years.
I do believe the overall mechanism and layout is directly lifted from the early R2 Edguns…
Looky here…

Early Edgun:

Snow Clone:

Yeah the breach part is wider, but it’s basically the same shape, the tube threads on to the valve and the Edgun goes inside the tube, but…
Looks far more similar than different…. :suprisedn: :suprisedn: :suprisedn: :suprisedn:
Compare the action of the Cricket to the Edgun and it’s more different than similar, compare it to a MRod and it’s more different. Anyway you slice it this is an Edgun early R2 clone.

Before i knew about the price that he is asking… i emailed him about the P12’s he’s got coming in and if he’s taking a deposit or a list. He said it was first come first serve to be fair.
Then i see him posting on the yellow what he’s only got a few left. sounds kinda fishy to me.
