Is there an Edgun similar to the Cricket compact
length-wise, I mean. The Compact Cricket is said no longer available. I could probably find one used, but truth be told an Edgun Compact Bullpup appeals to me. Maybe I just need something to dream for until the $$ solidify. I’ll visit the product page. My need is for a quiet back-door bull pup (multi-shot, if possible). Edgun bull pup that fits the bill is my preference.

Hi guys,
the thread has run my little brain ragged in trying to focus my airgun desires. If I hadn’t stated it before, I’m trying to get down to one or two airguns. My shooting regime has changed so that I’m pretty much a plinker (plinker-er?) now. So, a Leyla or a Veles? I’ve seen pictures of the Veles in carbine stocks. What is this first service I’ve read about with the Veles? I suppose I should ask Tony.
OT Today I saw three YouTube videos on the Kailibr Hummingbird. They were dated Sept 20 2014. One showed the magazine (nice design,has an indexing sprocket too). None showed the gun in semi-auto mode; only single-shot, being cocked by pulling the side bolt backwards. I’d read it will be offered now as a multishot, but not as a semi-auto.

If I didn’t have a .20 standard cricket I would have ordered one instead I went for the .25.
After converting my .177 to .20 at 920fps with 13.7g I wouldn’t go back to .177 BP configuration.
What do you guys think about Ed offering the .20 Leyla? I love the .20 but logic tells me to stick to the .177 in such a small gun. Any thoughts on the subject?
Ernest has some cool toys. If I had a Lelya .22, Cricket Compact .177 and Edgun R3M .25, I think I’d be set!

OK had to show you my two compact, the mod .22 cricket compact s 24″ AOL (13.25″ ST barrel) shooting at 32fpe, the .22 R3m compact is 27.5″ OAL also shooting at 32fpe. Both are a joy to shoot and have to have both.
got spare scopes form previous sales. 😉 (BSA Tactical 4-14x30mm FFP; AEON 8-32x50mm old classic Accu-shot 4-16x40mm). Just need that shorty for a scope to sit on.

I have my third 3 X 9-42 UTG 30mm Bugbuster scope waiting for my Leyla/Lelya .25 caliber.
I have had really good results in the 3 to 9X, and 4 to 12X UTG range scopes in the past. They have always been bright and clear, with plenty of magnification for the ranges I “humanely relocate” the critters in my yard. They have held their “zero” without fail.
Now target shooting is another factor, and may require more magnification, but who uses a bullpup for a bench rest gun? (Lots of people!) So, use some judgement there as to your overall need for large magnification.
One of our forum members was a slum-lord in Philadelphia, and used his Edgun for night time hunting from a second story window overlooking the trash bins for the apartments. His need was “Minute-Of-Rat” accuracy, and he “head shot” a ton of them, quietly I might add. He hasn’t been around for awhile, probably serving 3 to 5 years in the state pen…but back to the subject at hand.
A small, 12″ barrel, bullpup is as accurate at 100 yards as any full length rifle. Not quite as powerful, but length of barrel has absolutely no effect on accuracy. Assuming one buys a Leyla, of any caliber, for -50 yard shooting, it should group within an inch or so at distance, tighter when close up. So a super expensive scope may be throwing money out the window, when a proven less expensive model will work just fine.
Not that a $450 to $1000 dollar scope wouldn’t work just as well as the UTG line, but a normal eyebulb would be hard pressed to “see” a significant difference at short ranges. That kind of money is best spent when getting up to 25X to 50X, where those superior optics really begin to shine!
As for the .177 Leyla, in the ’70’s I put a lot of rats, pigeons, ‘coons, and ‘possum to sleep with my 700 fps .177 caliber HW55 Springer. Using the heavier domed pellets, the best for any shooting in my opinion, they packed a serious punch out to 50 yards. If I hit them, they all went down and stayed down…
Interestingly, in 1970, a .17 caliber @ 700 fps at the muzzle was considered a “Heavy Hunter” by Beeman, Inc. Just think of what a Leyla .177 will do at 880 fps!!!
